I wonder who won't be staying. If we keep Knight then that's Bell, Bailey and batchelor on top of pryce. Seems likely a fair chunk of salary there. Surely we can't be that much under?
Lane going we know, maybe it's ashworth or Knight? Briscoe also ooc
Wouldn't be surprised if Lane takes up a fair chuck of cap space, he's the last remaining player along with Ligi of the era of handing out crazy deals, Pryce I assume will be marquee. Think what we've seen under Myler is that the cap management has been much improved and how bad it was prior to his arrival. Think when you look at the squads of the top teams over the last few years in terms of quality and depth and they were under cap, then you look at ours over the same periods we should not have been any where near the full cap. So not sure we'd need to see many departures in that sense, plus the likely departures of Holmes, Ligi, Watts etc at the end of the season. not sure the top teams were under cap but were utilising the cap to the full. wigan reportedly spending £3m on players salaries. Ours was terrible value for money though. You'd think we had some former DJ handing out ridiculous contracts to average players or something

| Professional governing bodies more incompetent- Wales RU, North Yorks Council, last Tory Gov.but yes RFL well up there. I hear the arguments re Jed C and Holmes. A scenario may occur, given that they are both contracted, that in a long gruelling season they come in fresh like new signings and play most of remaining games. I?ve said before that you can?t expect every player to play every single game maybe the freaks ( hope Ese ese is one)and we have to be more patient when players are out. Tough aggressive fast athletic sport. So far Knight seems durable but know he?s had knee and ankle surgeries. One good game from Jed and it?ll all be forgotten. Here?s hoping?

Any news on when Holmes is likely to make an appearance?
End of the season when he picks up his severence pay Good to your positive posting back. Be interesting to get your thoughts on the work Myler has done, since you have spent nearly a year slagging him off? Minimum 9 out of 10 for me. I'm re-engaged with the club, parting with a bit more money, scrutinising fixtures and counting down to games. Coach, staff, recruitment for this year, recruitment 2026 onwards, retention of Ese, retention of youth... Light years ahead of where i thought we could be.

| Agreed. I'd assume the market would mean he'd be more expensive to replace then he would to retain.
Apparently we have a little space at current, but Batchelor, Bell and Hill onto next year's bill will take a lot. Have we got enough outgoing to cover new additions beyond them?

More interested in the work Cartwright has done and is doing rather than Myler.Interesting to note that the new role for Gaz Ellis is helping out Myler no doubt using his player connections to speak with potential signings especially in Australia. The clubs most effective signings have come from Cartwright. Abdull and Holmes were disasterous signings and Chamberlain not much better. Bell apart the signings for next season are a step up and i havnt a clue who initiated the talks and got them over the line. If it was Myler then fine but dont underestimate the work Gaz is now doing in this role

Can't you just admit that you've been over the top in your Myler bashing and that he's actually doing a very good job - not least in the engagement with the supporters ans wider community.

There's a lot more to what Myler is doing for the club than just his player signings (the vast majority of which have so far been very good)

| I don't think there is anyone driving change at the club other than myler and he seems to be doing a good job so far.
Still lots of areas to improve, particularly the academy, where the dobbins have made some good progress in the last 2 or 3 years when we've not focused on it due to budget constraints. We need to go on a charm offensive locally and up our game IMO. I've heard some stuff from parents who haven't been that impressed with the set up overall

| The Knight situation is strange. Not often you get a chance to really look at an overseas player before committing to a long term deal and you?d have to say he?s exceeded expectations. I?d be happy if we can make it work and get him on board, he seems to enjoy it here which sometimes is half the battle.
Taking the emotion out of it and social media silliness I just don?t think signing a 30 plus year old quota front rower with a record of injury problems to a 2 or 3 year deal is going to make or break the clubs revival either way. I?m the same with the Bell and Batchelor signings (batch being non quota obviously) there?s an element of risk/reward to each, I have a lot more trust in the process and direction now, we won?t get every single decision correct but there seems to be a real will to improve.

Great post, I've mentioned a few times that I think Knight is been over hyped by some fans, he has been a good signing and done well in most of the games he has played, but the way some fans are talking about him you would think he is as good as Ese Ese. They won't get every decision right, but the recruitment from Myler and Carty overall has been excellent. We can talk about the impact of Cartwright but myler signing the likes of Briscoe, Borough, Hardraker and particularly Asaita along with getting Carty on board has been instrumental on our success.
