The game has moved on significantly since those days, im not bagging his coaching abilities, but the supporters are beginning to sound like newcastle fans regarding keegan.... if the poop hits the fan, straight away, everyones like, get smith in...... please, the mans been on the scrapheap in the nrl for a whille now, known as a perennial loser..... harsh but facts dont lie....
I do agree we need experiance, but as with pryce and minichello, they do well for 2 years then were back to square one......needing another replacement, we as a club dont seem to have much foresight when it comes to descions like this........signing bang average joe such as michaels springs to mind, but . we need an experienced coach, preferably with super league experience who we can see having the job for 5 years or so.... getting smith in for 2 years does bugger all in my opinion....... and as ive stated, powell, justin morgan daniel anderson, tick all them boxes.....'"
powell would never leave cas for us and neither anderson or morgan have any desire to coach in the UK again as far as I'm aware. In fact Anderson has been out of coaching for much longer than brian smith. smith is no coaching god but he's much, much better than any of the realistic alternatives we seem to have

| I cant argue that smith would be better than radders no doubt, but the man is no mesiah.... ask the roosters about his time there.. did well at the start but got sacked after a disastrous 2012 campaign......and hasnt coached since in the nrl,,.........says it all to me, if they have no faith in his coaching abilities, then why should we ??

Isn't the point that Jakes making that he's possibly the best viable option? Not that he's the best coach in the world.
Realistically, who could we get in that's better than Smith?

No one with experience. We could always go for an untried assistant again but it hasn't worked the last 4 times so no reason to suspect it will the next

You can also see the improvement in Wakefield over the few weeks Smith has been there. Their upturn in performances is no coincidence.
Whereas there has been no improvement in us in all the time Radford has been our head coach.
Which says it all.
As Smith has said he and Wakefield are a perfect fit.
A team needing improvement and a coach and Smith to rediscover his passion for coaching and to see if he's still got it.
Yes Smith is not the long term answer but for putting in place a solid foundation and such a huge improvement over Radford it's unmeasurable I'd take Smith in a heartbeat if only our owner could see what's in front of his nose.

17490_1406583406.jpg First there was wisdom
Then there was knowledge

| We are not going to recruit a top coach. The owner wont pay what's needed and no-one who has a decent job will leave it to come to Hull? Why would they? Brian Smith is no messiah but he would be an upgrade on Radford. I will be interested to see how they both do between now and the end of the season because nothing will happen before then. Despite his loyalty to Radford, subject to where and how we finish, the owner may have to change the coach if he wants to sell any season passes.
