| In truth I am quietly excited with the Sharp appointment.
After many years we finally have someone who is steeped in the Hull Fc culture.
He has been part of the Saints set up, improved Hudders to become a competitive unit and has worked with GB (looking at the World Cup performance was he that bad ?)
I am looking forward to
1) Fight in the belly at derby time
2) A more structure defensive pattern
3) A visable game plan around a sound kicking game
I think Sharp has always hankered for the FC number 1 position even whilst at Hudders and I remember his comments when they turned Rovers over at CP and the clear pleasure he took in doing it.
Come on u Ulllahhh !!

Thats one of the things that will make a difference behind the scenes I feel as he knows the club and what is and should be expected from the 17 that hits the field on match day and also form the rest of the squad.
JS to be fair has done what looks like a very good job taking Huddersfield from a team everyone expected to beat to a team that was very hard to beat and with what seems like limited resources.
Maybe Hudds didn't have real attacking flair but they did the basics right and with the resources available at Hull I am sure we can hopefully see the some flair whilst the basics are done right, which for the last few years seems to have been a problem for us.
Nothing is guaranteed but I am quietly confident about this coming season.

| Quote: The Brother "I do think Agar & Sharp will form quite a team tbh'" The thing that worries me is how they both react to defeats.
Sharp at Hudds was famous for blaming everything from the ref to the state of the pitch for them getting beat.
Agar was always bleating on about Wembley and injuries, then the Rovers game after Wembley he pretty much goes mental at the younger players.

Maybe they'll overreact together and get it out of their systems before going public

Clearly they both post on here.
On a serious note Agar has done nothing wrong in regard to anything he's said to date. Hull FC is not a day care nursery and if some younger players continue to make the same mistakes week in week out as some did last year then they should not be wrapped in cotton wool because of their age or for that matter where they come from. Players who learn quickly from their mistakes and react positively to criticism will become good SL players and those who don't wont.

But to lay blame at the door of those still learning the game when the bulk of your established players are also failing to deliver is not right IMO. It seemed to me that last season the younger players were punished for their actions/form whilst the older ones got off scot-free.
It's alright saying that criticism will help them become better players, but perhaps it may also help some stay that way, rather than them just being guaranteed a place regardless.

I would agree that maybe some more experienced players should have received more direct criticism however no one should be immune from it if it's deserved. There were some absolutely dire personal perfomances last year across the whole spectrum of the team. As for Agar's comments after the R****s game I don't remember him mentioning any names specifically and therefore any attempt to hang his comments on individuals young or old is pure speculation.

Also spoke very highly of Chris Thorman and said he will have a massive influence with a great rugby brain in the middle of the park
Also seemed a real togetherness between the players'"
I think people will be surprised by Thorman, I think he and Horne could be very good together in the halves.

It is speculation about the Rovers comments yes, but we'll see who had their last chances by who is in the 17 at the start of next season.
I was actually referring to throughout the season. Admittedly at some times our options were limited for changes, but I just personally thought it seemed a little off that it was the same faces who got dropped after poor performances from most of the team. It's almost as if Agar didn't have the stones to mix things up like he suggested was needed, I hope with more players fit this coming season ( ) I'll be proved wrong.

Aftr the KR game David Hall was in my face about what Agar had said, who he said it to, and how he said it, he was under no illusions as to who it was directed at and in what manner it was done
He also said that Agar had lost quite a bit of credibility within the dressing room, but that is typical of a red n white parting shot at FC, but believe me he was fuming at the finger pointing.
