What do I need to google it for

At one point when they did the Stretford end in the early 90s capacity was about 40k

I reckon through the years there will have been a 50k fluctuation in capacity at old trafford due to various things.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?:

I used to go in the late 60's/early 70's and the capacity was 65,000 (62,500 for night matches).

Getting old, mine you.

i remember in the late 70's in a crowd of 60 thousand the stretford end got it totally wrong when they chanted "what a waste of money" to K Dalgliesh in one of his first games for liverpool.

Not really the 70's or 80's is it icon_rolleyes.gif

The mighty Reds have been getting 60k+ gate for as long as I can remember and I'm 50.

As explained the drop in attendances in the early 90's was down to groundworks not lack of demand.

I have been at old trafford as a kid in the late 80s when the crowds was 40k plus but in the mid 50s-80s the crowds was 30k-55k it was not till about 2000 the crowds went over 60k if anyone wants to look this up the website to look on is aboutmanutd then click on the matches link & use the filters on the right hand side to go to any year or games it will tell you the attendances, teams, goal scorers the works.... phil b is correct on this 1.

He was right in the end:

God i hope we dont become the most trophy laden club in the the sport of RL, cos the other half of this board who currently dont hate us will hate us, there will be bun fights about a crowd of 6k against Leigh at the KC, the 600 crowd at Boulevard. The ever reducing KC crowds. The price of a pint and probably how rubbish Sterlo was cos his pocket doesnt have any winners medals in it.

Get a grip people.

Quote: dayvoz "Doesn't that just prove that in the 70's and 80's they were getting crowds around the 60k mark at a time when no league titles were being won which was the original point,it was you who brought the 90's in to the discussion.'"

The average only breaks 50k 4 times in 20 years between 1970-1990
