| Can anyone see us having a squad in 2012 that will allow us to seriously challenge the top five of Wire, Wigan, Saints, Leeds and Huddersfield? I know there maybe further arrivals/departures so it's hard to be massively accurate but I was just interested as to whether people think we can genuinely bunch ourselves in with the five other clubs mentioned....

[quote="The Reason":3e09qe5x]Hi Andy
The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

| If we had minimum disruption to the 1, 6 and 7 positions I can't see why not.

Very achievable with a decent coach

| Quote: Mrs Barista "2012 squad is taking shape now, and most of the backs are under contract for next year. Assuming O'Meley and Moa sign, which seems to be the general view, this is what we've got signed up.
2012 Squad
Starting 13
1 McKinnon
2 Sharp
3 Gleeson
4 Yeaman
5 Briscoe
6
7
8 O'Meley (assuming the option is exercised)
9 Houghton
10 Moa (assuming he signs)
11 Tickle
12 Manu
13 Westerman
Forwards
Radford
Backs
Whiting
Turner
Lyne?
Halves
Obst
Ellis
Hookers
Heremaia
OOC
Horne
Long
Fitz
Lauaki
Dowes
Phelps
Burnett
As it stands, then, we've obviously got big gaps in the starting halves. Asked on the Leigh board about what they think of Ellis and whether he's ready, the answer was "almost". (He has a great kicking game and kicks 40/20s for fun as well). So I reckon Long will get another year with Ellis stepping up for most of it. Could see us keeping Horne on a reduced deal as cover, but we really need a top drawer 6, hence our interest in Chase, I suppose.
In the forwards, our cover is non-existent as it stands, for a club that jokes about a squad of back rowers, we've only got the starting back 3 in places for next year, and only one prop outside the 13, and this assumes O'Meley signs. Makes sense that we were serious about bringing Hock in, really. Given there is so little movement in the market, I'd give Dowes another year. Not sure how Burnett is going at Harlequins? Is it time to promote from the academy? We've not had a serious promotion since Houghton, which is a bit rubbish IMO.'"
Thats now leaves us with
O Meley
Mckinnon
Heremaia
Moa
On our quota with Phelps, Fitz and Lauaki OOC.
Keep Fitz or sign another NRL backrow or prop.

Him and Lauaki to go and a quota prop to come in I reckon. Any additional back rowers required to cover Tick, Manu and Westy will come from the likes of Green, Kent and Cunningham.

| The way it is going, we are going to have to find two forwards with little or no room on the quota.
I don't understand these two overseas signings. We seem to be spending our available cap and quota on non-priority signings while leaving ourselves very light in the pack(especially front row) and we still haven't addressed our need for a quality top drawer HB.

Aldous to step up maybe from what i have heard he is tearing it up in the U20s just like Moa did when he arrived and we all know how he has turned out
Still think we have a strong set of forwards also

I think we should include a right winger where possible.

i do as well but not sure on who fills that spot people will say sharp as he is contracted but his performances have been poor so far resulting in him been dropped and seems as though people including rich dotn have much faith in him and do we really want to go intop the new season with rich whiting as starting wing

| so then long has to go simple as that but who will be our number 7 for next season is it going to be a average stand in player in obst or an unproven ellis? signing aaron heremia will no doubt write of any chances of getting an overseas half and we all know the lack of 7s over here. thoughts
