| i still feel horny has alot to offer but he aint half the player he was when he was younger, if next season he can have an injury free season and proves that he deserves an contract and still a starting posistion in the team. at the moment id offer him an reduced contract as a backup type player but who knows before his injury earlier on in the season he showed some great form and hopefully we can see this again next season.

We replaced Cooke the same season he left - with Head. Then Dykes. Then Thorman. And finally Long. We haven't replaced Horne because he's still here and still under contract. It now seems that we're looking at halves for the near future. What more do you want?'"
I would like them to actually get 2 players who arnt coming to the end of there careers and are not injury prone for a start.
Matty head well known for his injuries but we signed him...Adam Dykes had problems with his legs and was getting on but we signed him...Thorman was so bad for the giants in the halfs they put him at fullback but we sign him. Long very good player but the club knew he wouldnt be able to play everygame but still dont bring in a young natural half back to cover and learn from the great man.
But then cannot believe there bad luck when both horne and long are out.
Even though they know of Hornes medical problems
Its called poor recruiting and the board not doing there homework.
Same with coaches ...Peter sharp and Richard Agar what a joke they are and that is the main problem until we get a coach who knows what they are doing and has proper contacts in the rugby world and is respected then we will always struggle.
Hell even Kr are now taken over us

So they are a joke are they, deary me. Proper contacts you say you mean like the ones who could help us sign top players like Ogre and Fitz.
I don't understand some fans.

| 4 clubs contacted Long's agent about signing him (Presumably that's 4 clubs[inc. us] + Saints), and he was offered more money elsewhere but was given the better offer for this stage of his career here (I presume he means the coaching role afterwards - he's already said that he's enjoying coaching the younger halves, and said that we have some good prospects and Danny Nicklas "could be a find"icon_wink.gif.

It remains to be seen how far he will go as a coach but he certainly a good coach. He got rid of some deadwood and recruited really well. Despite our halves missing a lot of the season we still challenged for 4th place and just missed out, partly to a controversial decision.
His decision to sign Long was a good one, he was not to know the tye of injury he would get and other clubs including Saints and Wigan both wanted him too. As for Horne he is under contract and I am sure RA knows that we can't continue with missing him all the time but that decision has to be taken next year when his contract is up. In the meantime he is signing some cover for 6,7.
What more do you want him to do?

the thing is Paul that long hasnt just had one injury hes had a few and the last year at saints he was injured a few like u say cannot be helped that is just rugby. But to have no natural cover especially knowing of the problems Horne has suffered and do nothing is poor in my opinion.
He keeps playing Washbrook in the halfs when it has NEVER worked but still does.
He seems to have only one plan and that is drive the ball up and kick.
And now we have given Radford another two year contract just because we didnt want him to sign for kr.
And he thanks us by smacking bailey and costing us 4th and then going missing in the derby gr8
He can bring Paul Cooke back for me as he would get us around the park again ...I know alot wont like me saying that but if there isnt anyone else available then he would do for me.

| Apart from anything else, Cooke is e nowadays.
And in games where we've had several players out, who would you have asked to cover the halves, other than Washbrook? I know he isn't the best halfback, he's a lf, but there weren't many other options at the time.

Because they're just sitting around waiting for the phone to ring, aren't they?
It's a work in progress. We're fresh out of magic wands.

Head was the ONLY player of any quality available when Cooke walked out mid-season. Dykes was a gamble that never paid off. Thorman I would never have signed - I can only assume this was a panic buy when it was decided that Dykes had to go early. Long has had injuries that could not have been predicted, not the sort of injuries you could attribute to his age. We've put Niklas onto full time training and are looking at bringing in another half for next season and already looking at Long's possible replacement for the year after.

PS might have been a decent coach in different circumstances. Jury is still out on Agar for me. This is the one area where I think we may not be making as much progress as we ought to be.

Ah - now we get down to the real reason for all the angst.

FFS.
I'm beginning to think you might actually be on the wind-up now.

There's no actual evidence that Horne's diabetes has been in any way responsible for his injuries this season.
No argument that we've recruited poorly in past years. This is now being put right. It will take time.
