| Philosophical.
I never expected anything other than a tough game and it turned out too tough. There's all sorts of ifs and buts, the weather, the injuries and their effect on team selection, the horrendous error rate, the dumb decisions and the descent into panic in the last quarter of the game.
For all that we played the wrong game for the conditions and badly in attack at that I don't think you can question anybody's effort out there. I was more cheesed off by the Tompkins try than anything else, defeat I can accept but that gave an extra kick in the teeth that wasn't really deserved.
Still on the positive side hopefully this has been a learning and character building experience. I don't subscribe to the view that you must lose first before winning but if some lessons have been learned then it isn't a total waste. And it will have put some cash in the club's coffers - something the small minded peasants in the east of the city can only look at with envy.

I’m looking through the teams prior to kick off yesterday and I’m thinking Wigan are better at 1, 2 and 5, Hull are better at 3, 4 and 9. The half backs give or take – Miller and Holdsworth’s Warrington semi final performance would make them superior, I remember when Wigan signed Matty Smith people on here were raising eyebrows and saying they wouldn’t want him at Hull. Up front I wouldn’t swap any of theirs for O’Meley, Whiting or Ellis.
The difference between the two sides is mentality and professionalism. Wigan have had a few bad defeats recently with injuries and a cup final coming up but ordinarily the distance between their best performance and their worst is miniscule. Wigan just have a professionalism about them, and a mental strength, to enable them to perform week in week out for nine months of the year which means they’re always there or thereabouts when the trophies are handed out.
The difference between Hull’s best and worst performances is absolutely colossal. Look at the way we played at Warrington in the league and cup and the way we’ve played the likes of London and Wakefield this year. Look at the home and away performances against Castleford. We have a bunch of players, and I always think of Westerman when I’m saying this, who are unprofessional and not mentally right to compete at the very top of this game. They can turn in a tremendously consistent display and systematically take apart a brilliant Warrington side, but then the next week it’s “oh it’s only London Broncos” and they start throwing silly passes around and knocking on etc. That makes us dangerous on a one off basis but kills us in the league. It’s why I thought we’d win yesterday, but you can’t turn it on and off like a tap and yet again yesterday you’ve got them all throwing ridiculous passes around and knocking on. And once one of them does it, they all start doing it. We were attempting some outragous dry weather 13 pass 7 offload moves yesterday on tackle two when losing by eight points with half an hour still to play. Why is there nobody out there calming everybody down, making them complete a few sets? Concentration, professionalism, consistency.
They don’t need a coach, they need a shrink. Or a bloody good slap round the chops.'"
Spot on that pal.

On the biggest stage, with our hopes the highest my team put in their worst performance. Supporting The Airlie Birds is a rollercoaster and when we sense a bit of hope experience tells us expect the worst. But I honestly never saw that performance coming. I love this clu. And I'll be back no matter what, but I am hurting. It's just plain cruelty to fans. Animals have the RSPCA, but I have to find a bar with a quiet corner. My team let me down BIG.

For what?
You really are pretty nondescript when it comes to your posts, the players gave everything, the effort was not in doubt, execution, nerves, fear, panic were clearly the deciding factor and whilst we are bitterly dissapointed you are not in any position to be demanding an apology from the players/coach.
How I feel/felt.... underwhelmed.

| Yesterday i was Drained!
The drive was long, the weather was atrocious and the performance wasn't there!
Long LONG day at the office!
Today i am Hopeful!
The whole point of being a supporter is to go through thick n thin, if I could change the results I'd b a player or a coach! I can't, so ill be a supporter, and hopeful that on Friday we can tear them apart! Ha!
Whilst I was upset, things could be worse, we could be lower leagues, skint, in a run down ground with crowds of 500 and not been in a cup final or grand final for 50 years! Things can always get better, but they can also be a lot worse!

That's just it - they didn't give everything. Far from it.
