As many as the RFL rules state due to the time in which you signed the players. You see, when we built a squad we didn't do it for a short term fix, we brought players over who will will see probably 5 years of good service at least out of and now that is bearing its fruits.
If the Rugby League want to say to Rovers because you signed Vella, Lovegrove, Newton, Galea and Webster before such and such a date they don't count on the quota and you can within the rules sign x amount of overseas players what is wrong with it?
It's not Rovers who are saying balls to you the RFL, they are the ones registering the contracts at the end of the day

Touched a nerve ?? You have quickly become the laughing stock of SL and every club's fans are looking at your squad with amazement. In the middle of rugby league heartland and you can nearly field a full side of foreigners !!!

What do we reckon we need then?? Gotta give Smailes somthing to put into tomorrows mail.
Is Purdham really the sort of thing we need, or just a quality name in the position we're ok in 'for now'??
Will something better be along in 12/18 months??
Are we overly short on backs or will Reece be ready next year as Tommy B was?? Is it too soon for Briscoe to move to centre??
If Whiting goes LF and Fitzy drops back does it strengthen our pack??
I think our squad looks very good at the moment and the set positions are still in the building stage.... as someone else said, next year will be the year for BIG signings but this year (2011) just needs tweaking and a little more luck with injuries IMO..

to give an honest reply, he gets lots of stick for some reason however if our centres / wingers were scoring as many has he has done recently we would all be very happy!!!
He has had his injury issues recently however he seems to have moved past all of that now and is doing ok.
i would be most happy if he was signed to answer the post |

We absolutely need a HB and two quality props. Or a SR which would free up Lauaki or Fitz to move up. 3 more signings. Fielden, Chase/Robinson/Leulei and Westerman/Purdham !!! |

I fully agree on the halfback situation.. Do you think we could do with a young inexperienced one to learn from the likes of Long/Horne e.g. Give Nicklas a bit more gametime ala Briscoe etc.. or maybe wait til next season when Berro & Long go and stick Longy into coaching and sign a top class aussie?? Cronk or similar 
Robinson would be a good idea for me as he can play Hooker also so can be used as a foil when Berro does go.
Leuluei would be quality and ideal but would he leave Wigan to come 'home'?? Could we afford him??
Not sure bout where i could fit Westerman but he could be to good to miss out on........
Fielden not looking good, but he would be a quality signing....... |
