Is that all the same ones who said Tony Smith was the missing part of the jigsaw and as an experiened head coach would take us to the Golden Fleece.
Oh ye, all them ones who got it wrong yet again.

Someone widely respected, with good contacts across the globe and strong links to the club. Shame Ellis isn’t with us any more.

Ellis said he didn't enjoy the business aspect of that role

The announcement that we are to appoint a Director of Rugby is an interesting development and something that many have questioned since the departure of Motu as selection and quality of recruits has certainly depreciated (perhaps in some part as well to the money available to recruit being reduced year on year by stealth) Why I say its interesting is that when Smith left Rovers he publicly stated that he wanted control of all recruitment and retention and obviously with time it wasn't working for the club as a whole. The same lesson seems to have been learned here too. I heard last night that the parting was an amicable one on both sides and although its reported training etc was a bit of a shambles it was also probably based on the fact that a lot of that responsibility was to be taken from the Coach and placed on the shoulders of a football manager.
The irony of an owner who obviously likes sole control on the ownership side without interference and a coach who demands complete autonomy on the recruitment and retention side of things should certainly not be lost of any of us. Interesting times and still the question persists will Adam give the club up to new investors or just take some investment on board to strengthen the team. Plus I think that the appointment of a Rugby manager probably means we will go forward with Grix, but I hope I'm wrong there. The new Director of rugby's first job should be to appoint a new coach altogether. For me personally We need a new broom.

Who says they were wrong? Perhaps Smith would have been successful. Nowadays there is no patience. I feel a new coach now has to start again. And he may benefit from investment that TS never had. So everyone who has the black and white answers if you’ll pardon the pun, without knowing all the facts should e a little considered in their judgement imo. I’m sure FC will rise again but not necessarily from the departure of Tony Smith. As an experienced international coach he will have made a positive contribution to a sinking ship. These forums appear to be vehicle for many to cathartically vent their spleens. Hoy and Smith have been harshly spoken off imo. Heyho

Well, we'll never know about Smith now, will we?
I do find it amusing that several who welcomed Smith as our new saviour were the first ones calling for his head, and are now telling us who and what is needed.
I never really fancied Smith and especially when he brought Gene in.
I agree about your Hoy & Smith comment.
