and that is clearly what we are trying to do at present , the club know exactly where they are with the halves and that we need specialist cover however if they both have a wow season then why not another years extention??

Horne has never been in the category of the players mentioned EXPRO, and even you admit that, surely?

, not anymore. Tanseys a better 6 and no doubt Briggs is.

Tansey is not a 6 , rarely been used there and briggs is no where close to RH in my opinion
anyway he will be here to prove one of us wrong for next season and lets hope for all of us that i am correct!!!

Obviously thats had a huge bearing on his form over the last few years, now hes too injury prone to be classed as a top 6 which is exactly why we need to try someone different. We cant keep him at 6 just because he broke his neck and has diabetes.

Tomkins, McGuire, Pryce and Briers
Tompkins to me is possibly the best young player in the UK at present so i give you that one.
Briers to me should have been the No1 choice for Gb for a long time and is a freak of a player ..give you that one.
Price has proven over and over he plays well when the team plays well and goes missing when they do not so not there.
Mcguires last two season have been up and down like a barmaids knickers and only this latter part of this season has he come good and looks excellent right now
However i have never disagreed that there are better players in SL than horne for individual skills or for speed but what i am saying is that Horne has a lot still to offer for another year and then i believe he will leave by choice or not as we are on the brink of a new dawn and we no longer as a club hand out friendly contracts to "good ole boys" ala King, Lee etc etc and dowes could be another one of those , BUT horne is not a lost cause by a long way and earlier in the season he was looking very good, lets go back to the match at wigan when he looked the only player on the island for FC ..
i agree he is nearing his end , but not because he is crap

The thing is Kosh we get told by James Rule that they are always on the look out for players and there recruitment never stops but since Paul Cooke left we have failed to find a young playmaker. We keep signing injury prone or quality players who are not that level anymore. But still pay them that wage.
Kr have gone out and got Green to complement Dobson straight away.
We on the other hand are still looking?'"
Have they? They've played with a variety of partners for Dobson all season because they didn't immediately replace Cooke.
It's OK to get a young playmaker to play alongside a more experienced one. We didn't have that luxury. When Cooke left we lost the only playmaker at the club and had to look for someone with experience rather than someone still on the up. Hence the signing of Long. We're now looking for a young HB and already have Niklas signed up.
Far too much knee-jerking goes on regarding this issue IMO.

Thats just silly, of course not .
we keep him there because when he gets a fit run at 6 he looks as good as anyone!
lets all hope he has an injury free year huh,

I didn't suggest he was (other may have, I haven't read through the full thread), in the position at which we play him he is not of the required standard, IF we played him in a different position week in, week out, then he may prove to have more to offer.

You're free to believe what you like of course. Personally I prefer a more evidence-based approach and I haven't seen any evidence. If we had any great alternatives at either 6 or 7 they'd have had plenty of opportunities to play there this season and make the position their own.
The club are looking to bring in a young half. Why not wait and see what happens before throwing a strop?

| you know what a lot of people have always struggled with admitting on here is that when paul Cooke left he destroyed our club.. not by leaving or the manner in which he left but by the fact we never realised at the time how much he made us tick , how integral he was to those around him and the plays he made , how much better yeaman was when Cooke was flinging out wide passes to him all week, horne followed him like a lovelost puppy and scored tons off him and he pushed us around the park lovely..
Paul cookes leaving was the catalyst for the downward spiral that has taken some time to address, but addressing it we are and we will now move forward, however i wish we had another paul cooke right now!

At his peak RH was as good as McGuire and not far behind Pryce. More difficult to compare him to Tomkins he's only come to the fore recently. Briers is a completely different style of half.

That is your opinion but a misguided one my friend, if you believe that RA is overawed by players reputations then you are very very misguided.
He will not drop him because in that position at this current time he is yards ahead of anyone elase we have or do we just then throw Turner or tansey in there week after week so then everyone would say "Frikkin agar why isnt he playing perople to their strengths , turner is crap , tansey is a full back blah blah blah"
RA this year got us to the playoffs with his corrent squad, he is adding to that squad as we speak , lets see what he brings in first eh??
