| Quote: IR80 "According to HDM Jomes has told the club he is comitted. BUT, this is anpther "the mail understands" which we all know means "the Mail read on RLFans so we're just regurgitating it as news".
A bit like the "Hessle Foreshore branded the Covid-19 second wave Ground Zero", with lots of photographs taken at angles to make it look way busier than it probably was.'"
I had to cross the bridge and I was disgusted at how busy the foreshore was, it was rammed. No common sense at all on display from those who think they can do what they want.

Committed himself to FC and isn’t sure where the rumours came from but why have a thread that can’t be derailed by the usual suspects

| Quote: The Dentist Wilf "Fact is many of us who have been around all this a long time sort of think that this sort of thing doesn't usually happen unless said player has got somewhere else to go and so I think it will be with jones. In short who would be surprised if he has been tapped up and if he has then we want a big transfer fee. However the fact Clubs are in a financial position to be able to entice players away does for me raise another issue.
For me, although you can't blame players looking to their futures if their contracts are running out, I think that the RL should have put an embargo on any players moving or signing new contracts and frozen the whole situation whilst players are under furlough and until the future of the game and the length of this season was sorted. At present there are a lot of clubs like our own who are struggling to keep going day to day and who therefore daren't commit to new contracts and bring in new players, because of their uncertain financial futures. However there are a few Clubs whose beniffactors are so well off they will feel they know they will survive whatever and can move on such things with some certainty but in doing so they are doing it at the expense of other those Clubs in the competition. That hardly seems fair to me.'"
So you want to limit the rights of a person to move jobs/talk to a potential employer, that's not lawful is it? There are a lot of businesses struggling out there, tens of thousands in fact with many gone/going under, they don't put such restrictions in who their employees can approach or stop them from leaving.

That's been happening for years. Clubs must tell players on the 1st of May in the year their contract is ending whether they will be offered a new contract or not. The players have until 1st June to accept or decline a new contract if offered, and if they don't accept it they can talk to other clubs. Seems fair to me, both players and clubs have a reasonable degree of protected.
Players are given 6 months notice, not bad by any of today's standards.

| Quote: WIZEB "The demonisation of Radford continues unabated.
Like I've said previously, let's see how we look back in ten years when the trophy cabinet keys have gone rusty, and are hidden in the corner, third drawer down.'"
And if the coach and indeed club as a whole had done better with the talent and money we had in the last 6 years do you not think that the future might have been a bit more rosy in terms of potential to get the cabinet having something in it?
That's not dissimilar to what happened with Bunting, huge investment in players, won a couple of big trophies and then we fizzled out, at least with Bunting we didn't get walloped as we have under Radford, coaches have their limits, but if you get a great squad in, get some luck injury wise (Saints had that in droves in recent times) and win a few games on the bounce you can look fantastic and win some silverware, but it doesn't make you a great coach.
Would you not agree that just the 2 CC wins are a bit of a disappointment on the back of what the owner put in and the personnel we had over the last 6 years, add into which the last 2 1/4 seasons, cutting back the squad for various cap/player contract reasons, more big investments and out the play-offs the last two seasons?
It's the highs and the huge lows that follow that make you question Radford's coaching ability.
Lee can be happy with what he achieved, and what he, the players and all the staff involved gave us, we can't forget those highs, but as fans we should have expected more from the squad/investment, not necessarily that we were going to win trophies every year, but actually put us on a bit more of a level pegging with other big clubs.
We should have an expectation that the coach should do better in how he coached tactics, how he handled players, both top earners and youngsters (including personal spats), to how he managed the back room stuff, to the youth system, and most of all not getting drummed several times over to the point of record defeats
That negative stuff is an equal part of Lee's legacy.
But we have to move forward and to go forward thinking we won't win anything in ten years is just silly really.

Yes of course, but the way the poster I replied to was talking about removing rights of players to seek employment elsewhere with embargo's that add on to what already existed, that doesn't sit right, even more so in these times, it came across as you can't leave a club or even enter into looking elsewhere under a threat of penalty.
