| One loss and a big panic, Paea has been very good lately, but is playing for a contract, maybe the same for Green.
Our squad is two big this year, slimming it down is the right move.
If we can sign another prop plus Sao (Who mainly plays prop) We will be fine.

Making 60 tackles a game is not really the main task of a hooker but tackles seem to be the only thing ever mentioned in relation to Houghton.

| it gets mentioned alot, because the amount of tackles he makes is unbelievable.
Has alot more to his game, very underrated by fans, you only notice how important he is to our team when he is missing.

Don’t think there’s a big panic Dave, but we were beat upfront against rovers, and watching saints yesterday Walmsley was probably the main reason they won, with his go forward.
Fafita is another who fits the super size prop mould, he’s another match winner. There’s a few others around who are not quite at this quality, Bullock, Masoe, Pauli, the young kid from London, forgot his name etc.
So not that many available in the super size bracket, a deal must be over the line with an NRL prop if the statements regarding Greeny are true.

It’s actually difficult to judge sometimes whether it benefits or harms his reputation more.
Like Rory Delap only really being known for his long throws, or something. Is it what he’d want to rest his personal RL legacy on? It’s a both impressive and also feels like a bloated stat, similar to John Stockton’s NBA career assist record, or some elements of Russell Westbrook’s triple doubles. I’ve been watching a fair bit of basketball recently.
Fair play to DH though, he will have a legacy to be judged on.

Sao and Satae props. It's a shame we haven't kept Westerman.
Disappointed Green is going, along with Paea he's been our best prop recently and is at his peak in terms of years. Plus he's non qouta. Also there's no guarantee that the incoming players will adjust to super league and be a success.
If you look at it I'm not sure such a massive overall of the squad is necessary given where we are at at the moment. However l still have faith in the club to get it right.

He is a top tackler. He is reasonable in other areas of the hooker role but just maybe he does not shine as much as he could/should because most of his energy is used in tackling which as I said is not the main function of a hooker. It does seem to be his main function and is lauded by many FC fans. I would want a hooker to be more rounded and although it is early day Parcell was a good example.

As Dave said, DH has a lot more to his game, evidenced when he has moved to loose forward during a number of games this season.

Undoubtedly, but that’s probably not what he’ll be widely remembered for.
He doesn’t seem egotistical, so I doubt he even cares. And the fans of his own club know his value.
I just wonder whether he deserves more appreciation than ‘one-club man and tackling machine.’ from other fans. The praise he gets is a bit narrow and means he’s perceived as being more one-dimensional than is really the case.

| Good point about his move to loose forward last year. Proves he’s not one dimensional.
He’s just so good at tackling, it overshadows the other parts of his game.
Not as good as Parcell though, he’s as good as Cameron Smith.

Don’t worry about the praise our Danny gets, he was anointed in Queens Gardens by twenty thousand, and affirmed the following year at the City Hall.

Oh, there’s no doubting the level of appreciation from Hull fans.
Even I advocated his Man of Steel award, or at least anticipated it. While pointing out his uncanny resemblance to cro-magnon man, admittedly.
I just wonder whether it is more stereotyping him than it is celebrating his talent. To some extent it is both, imo.
I wonder if he embraces it or whether he feels a bit like ‘there is more to my game than that’.
When he switches to loose forward, does he play in a noticeably different way. Or does he just tackle a lot without going into dummy half so much?

Gets his hands on the ball a lot, and to good effect. To be fair, we’ve maybe been guilty of not using those skills enough.

Better distribution and finding touch with decent kicks. Becomes another pivot.
