Quote: Diablo1967 "I can't understand the Colbon knocking. ONE try was let in and he was stepped by a very very good player - One who I'd have back at the club in a heartbeat. Ben Crooks wouldn't have been anywhere near Broughton with his defensive lapses. That huge long ball beats every single team and no-one can outrun the pace of that pass to slide in defence from a standing start.

ONE try against a team that scores for fun is better than ANYONE predicted on here.
Colbon did his job well last night. Wind your neck in Peggy. He's rubbish. If you think he's not then that's up to you. It may surprise you to know I don;t really care.

As for the performance overall, I thought we were good in patches but still a long way to go for us to get anywhere near the level required and I think some are going overboard with their assessment of us against a poor huddersfield team

Wind your neck in Peggy. eusa_clap.gif I agree I thought Colbon did a good job last night, thought the tussle between our right edge and Huds left edge was well and truly won by Whiting and Colbon and also thought Yeamo against Murphy was a great contest. The game also showed for me how good we can be when the forwards fire and get us on the front foot.

I don't care what you think but was replying to your views on colborn. Half a dozen avid fans on here agree with you but plenty disagree. I'll back my knowledge on the game on this one

Colbon is bang average and amazingly slow! Bet whiting beats him by 20 metres over a 100metre dash!!!!!
What he is decent ish at is being solid and metres out of our end! Nothing more for me. Appreciate his efforts for us but isn't super league standard.
If we was playing some top teams like saints in next few weeks I'd be massively worried! The try was a poor poor effort! If he'd been run over fair enough but to get stepped and walked round from there wasn't good. Not knocking him as such but if Sa comes in I'd push whiting to wing (really didn't wanna see whiting in backs anymore though) hurry up lineham!!!

Not watched it back yet, but thought we did a decent job. Hudds were obviously weakened by a short turnaround, but we still controlled the game from start to finish and were led superbly by Ellis, Paea and Carvell who were all relentless. Our long kicking found their back 3 on the full too often, and goal-kicking remains an issue. Shaul showed some real flair and I like Talanoa a lot. Whilst Huddersfield were poor, we have often been criticised for failing to capitalise on opposition weakness and errors. When we do so, that's used to belittle a handy performance. Weird.

Exactly how I see it. There's a reason that the worst team in SL didn't renew his contract and that he was sat around kicking his heels when we gave him a chance. He will be badly found out when we play a team who start to kick the ball high to him or in behind him near the line

I've not seen anyone belittling the performance anywhere. Who is?

Huddersfield was just as low in confidence as much as FC was..we responded better & got on the front foot better through our pack digging in...so anyone saying we beat a poor side is talking rubbish...remember this is the team that embarrassed us not so long ago & imo they've strengthened if out...so fair play to our lads for not letting them in the game even with the man of steel!

Belittle to consider or speak of (something) as less valuable or important than it really is; disparage'"

Sounded like it to me, especially after a positive result. Still, what do I know?

Rubbish is a pretty big call against someone who goes into a super league game and apart from one defensive fail holds their own. A stop gap for sure but rubbish is too strong imo.
