| I think there are lots of good comments on here and agree that the clubs need to take a little more control of the game.
The Salford dream of throwing lots of cash at the problem is not a long term solution unless the game is sustainable however, improvements to the inconsistencies within the game would be a start.
Finance
Administration - Is it now set in stone that a club entering administration is docked 6 points and is it for the current season or the next season?
Salary cap - Is there a better system with transparency?
Refs
Discipline - how can very similar tackles be given different treatment on the same week by the same group of people. Big/favored clubs seem to be getting off with some big calls.
Video ref - If the Ref Coach is at the ground then use him (Sharp on Ganson) if the technology is there then use it, foul play etc why can't this be done as the game progresses even if there is a worry about timing. also possible at every game (costs?)
Refs - Is there any more help that can be given to them?
Promotion of the game
Magic weekend - now based in Manchester (not on the road) local teams just turn up for their games (Wigan, last two years) now moved from the bank holiday? why?

pro-rata with rugby teams they will be losing more supporters, especially this season.
I for one would rather watch Hull f.c. play than united, And i will...
You really should of listened to your teacher at school when they told you to "engage brain before speaking".
If I choose to spend money watching a premier club it will actually be back to Anfield.

| Quote: Graham Richards "The crowd situation is a very real concern. Ok some will point to growing TV audience, but many more one sided games like we have seen two weeks running now with the Broncos and that will suffer. (I personally have not watched either game other than to see what the score was a times. Last night I watched Masterchef instead.)
You could though select many different sports and compare the crowds and we would look good. Look at County Cricket for instance. The crowds there are very poor. Do we compare to them? No we don't. I regularly attend games at Lords and believe me there is often barely a soul in the ground. What we don't have though is multi millionaire backers (sponsors and chairmen) supporting the game.
For that reason we have to look to strong chairmen and the RFL to bring in sponsors. Without them the game dies. It certainly won't be appealing if our only box office stars desert us for the NRL.
At the moment I see us split. We have the RFL and a group of chairmen on one hand who seem to think the status quo is working. On the other we have AP NH MK etc who see the game as being undersold and under valued and are battling against the old farts in Red Hall. While that battle progresses all that will happen is supporters will dessert the game.
As Wilf says once you are out of the habit of attending regularly its hard to return. Life moves on. My personal circumstances bare this out. HFC on Friday nights is completely out of the question for me. So much so I don't even consider it. Even Sky on Thursday is not a habit yet, though I am missing Saturday night rugby. I find myself drifting to other entertainment. Not because of any malice to the game but simply because it doesn't fit into my lifestyle anymore. Even last week when we had a Sunday game I had a prior long standing appointment which ruled out a trip to the KC (THANK GOODNESS). Priorities change and before you know it someone who attended 12- 20 games a season only attends 2 - 5. Christ I am even attending a Basketball match next week.
Its easy to simply question "the good Ol Faithful" and have some flippant remark questioning any loyalty people have, but people have other priorities in life and things like rugby can easily fall by the wayside for the slightest of reasons. And right at this moment in time the game is at a major crossroads which could result in many more "Voices of reason" being lost.
I fear it will only end up in disaster'"
Well said that man. Agree with most of your post......Basket ball, really.
I would say that your part about "could result...." is more realistically "is actually". The amount of friends and family who are feeling the same way is quite considerable.
Even Wilf has had the thought albeit for a nano second.

| If (and that's a very big if) I ever decide to walk away from FC, then I will NOT make a public announcement to that effect. To me it reeks of attention seeking. If you want to go, then go!!

| Each to their own.
Hull FC are my club and I will follow them irrespective of who they play and which division they are in.
The game is in a poor state, that's clear. But changing things doesn't happen over night. The stability of the TV deal and the league sponsorship should give the game a platform for forward planning.
Rubbish refereeing should not be a reason to walk away. Referees have never been perfect as they have just one set of eyes. That incidents get replayed on TV more now just highlights what has always happen, referees miss things.
Hudgell has a point about the disciplinary procedure, it's inconsistent and there are now too many instances of lesser teams being punished than bigger teams. Paea gets banned for being 3rd into a tackle around the knees yet two days after he is given his ban, there were many incidences of the same tackle in the Wire /Wigan yet that doesn't get cited.
Referees cannot see everything but unfortunately there are some weak referees who avoid making a decision if possible. Take last nights game. Miller gets flattened by Morley, referee stops the game awards a penalty and puts the incident on report. Now, if it warrants a penalty it's fowl play and the referee, bing 10 yards away, has seen the event. Why the need for the report system if it's been seen?
Final big issue in the game is the sanitising of the collision. Penalising shoulder charges IMO is wrong.

My decision to not go to matches ATM in time is being replicated hundred times over.
Expressing my view as to why I've made this decision is known as being part of a DEMOCRACY.
If you don't like it, TOUGH.
Discuss.

I respect your decision not to go but posting it on a rugby forum is cockish behaviour

I look forward to your views on last nights match in your Diary Wilf.
One swallow?
Steve (look at me) Ganson is keeping a low profile again this week by officiating on his home team (AGAIN).
I wonder why supporters believe the RFL are corrupt?
Do you have views that our 30year old International centre requires passing practice (WTF) and our coach sees that as OK to keep selecting him?

Well I didn't see last week coming and it was a debacle nor did I see last night coming either I don't think anyone could, I thought some of the selections were strange but what do I know, because it worked....gloriously.
It was 'only Salford' but now in the cold light of Saturday morning I still think our defence in particular made it for those who turned up a pretty amazing night. I enjoyed it!
