| Richard Horne is not what 2014 HFC needs at six in my opinion. At the moment he is the best we have in that position which again in my opinion is a sad reflection of the position we are in.
Nice bloke.. Has been good, is good at certain things but we have been trying to fit a square peg into a round hole for far to long now

His biggest issue is staying fit.
Not being good enough isn't a problem.
Before getting injured he was the top try assist maker in the league(think he was still in top ten come the end), he'd been voted our player the month 2 times in the opening three. Didn't he also get a super league player of the month as well?? Also was scoring tries and his kicking game was best it had ever been.
Don't think he'll be a starting half come the start of season but he'll be pretty much the best back up in the league.

In your opinion. Which, in my opinion, does not count for much.

| Happy for Horney, deserved it from last season. Was very good before his injury.

Give it up banging the drum, you clearly have a crush.
Are all the people with the same opinion as you also sheep or just the ones with a different view ?

| What an extraordinary thread.
On the basis of a squad number some on here have picked rad fords first starting 13.
Didn't. Manu have No. 16 yet was a starting 2nd rower for a few years?
As has been pointed out, with the personnel we have, who else was going to get that number?
Finally, who gives a flying about it? There is 3 months before the start of the season. The owner has gone on record to say we are the market of a half yet some appear to be only happy when moaning about something.

Mick Vella at number 20 for us proves that point.
I assume those up in arms at Horne wearing '6' clearly think Vella wasn't a first team prop for us. Barking is all I can say.

Dont worry, fixtures out soon, then it'll be a thread about hard done to we are, people predicting games dates scores and that.

| Warrington may be in the market for a hb too now, so it'll give you a bit of competition signing the best one available maybe.

So you dont think they will line up:
1. Russell
6. Ratchford
7. Myler
with Gareth O'Brien as back up?

| Incredible thread. It must be dull in Hull at the moment. Could it be that as shirts sales are going well the marketing department have turned round to AP and said Adam we are selling loads of shirts at the moment and we are about to release the away shirt, well in advance of many of our competitors BUT... we are missing out on loads of tenners as people don't know what number to stick on the back. AP response was to get Radders to give everyone a number regardless of his plans is February so that the tills get the additional tenners. Cash is king especially in an off season. Just a thought.
As for Horne and 6 he is and always will be a legend of the club. He has played 6 for most of his career with the occassional position switch to suit the team. His testimonial shirt is proof of that. He is not the answer any more to our hb problems for the simple reason he can only play 50% of games due to the ever increasing number of injuries he gets. I just hope hes around for the crucial games next season. A fully fit Horne at Wembley this year may just have been the calming influenece that we lacked.
I am sure he will accept that his best days are behind him, but equally he is younger than Briers and I don't see many Wire fans celebrating the demise of their pivot. He can and will do a great job for us next season, as he has always done. He will also offer as much support as he possibly can to the new 6 when he arrives as thats the kind of pro he is.
