I'm going to wear my Hull shirt back to front so as to make the board think I'm not watching.

| The concept of this poll demonstrates a lack of understanding of the deeper issues. For the short term , look no further than their nose end supporter, any win must be a good thing and is to be valued at all costs with no thought for the future because only today matters. For those of us who simply cannot see that Agar brings anything to the club that will lead to good exciting football and the probability that we will regularly be competitive against the "big" teams , indeed be a big team and challenge for honours every year , then it is a dilemma because we know that any win will prolong his tenure and move us further away from those ambitions. At the same time your heart of course wants the team to win. We all want success , exciting rugby and a full stadium. The players , coach and indeed BOD are only transient and passing through , I support the Club and sometimes that will surely involve being critical of these people if I think it is in the best interest of the future of the Club and what they are doing is not. To simply stand by and say nothing or worse to applaud what you disagree with , like the crowds applauding the Emperor's new clothes when he was naked , is not the action of a supporter. Ironically anyway , it's those in the middle who don't express their views either way rather than the "extremists" that will have the greatest effect because they'll quietly drift away if they feel they are not being entertained and getting some success.

I've clapped the players at the end of a poor performance plenty of times but it's only for the few players that put everything into it. Unfortunately you can't direct your applause at the select few.

Indeed, some are just lying dormant waiting until the time is right for a rallying call or a put down for us who aren't deemed positive enough

Maybe a better question would be:
Do you want us to win superleague?
And follow it up with:
What needs to change at the club in order for us to do it?

Or maybe they just don't post a great deal but enjoy reading the boards!

| Quote: ChrisH "The concept of this poll demonstrates a lack of understanding of the deeper issues. '"
The poll doesn't demonstrate a lack of understanding of "deeper issues" at all in my opinion. There are no "deeper issues" and it's not really that complicated. The poll I assume targets those who would prefer to regularly lose games in order to "show them up" - very few I believe. As I see it ...
1. Some fans want the coach replaced now (one or two of those would prefer the team to lose to facilitate this but most in this category still support the team on the field).
2. Some fans recognise the improvements made last year over previous years and are prepared to see over a number of games whether or not further improvement can be made. If it can't then it's likely the coach has already reached the limit of his ability by finishing 6th last year and losing a CC final in a previous season and it would be good for the club to look elsewhere to make the next step.
3. One or two fans (if that) think they've seen enough already to think the coach is the man to bring glory.
That's the spectrum of opinion and it isn't any more complicated than that. Fans in category 1 are not some mega race of "deep thinkers" they just don't rate the coach and want rid. Fans in category 2 can easily see beyond their nose they just have a different take. The Wakefield debacle saw a good few move from 2 to 1 and more will follow if it's repeated.
What appears to be the latest rumble is fans arguing amongst themselves about their various "rights" to hold differing views and act according to their views. It seems at this stage that it is the Agar out protestors that are the most narked about being shouted down on game day. Some think this is the club's fault for allowing this situation to occur - not really true as people are entirely responsible for their own actions whatever those actions might be. I also read about a certain 'snobbery' of fans who had the audacity to make their views known to the vociferous protestors either at games or fans' forums. This isn't 'snobbery' it's simply a result of the fact that in a body of sports club supporters the majority will not want a negative undercurrent undermining the club/team. That might just apply to game day while the team is playing out on the pitch, or could be as a result of ficticious unfounded rumour-mongering or alike on here. That's not snobbery it's just natural fan behaviour..
Results will dictate the outcome - not deep forward thinkers or Agar protagonists amongst the 18th man. Home form is paramount and the Wakefield shambles has to be a one off. A decent cup run and good home form from here on in will keep everyone interested. Further inconsistency will see pressure mount but at the end of the day results will count above all else. If we get a good draw in the CC and progress the fans will reappear, an early exit will add to the misery. It's a real shame that the coach isn't striving for a contract extension into 2012 as I firmly believe he should be as that would have sharpened things up further. A 2 year extension last year was a dumb move and has not helped at all.
Time will tell.
