I'm not sure what the club telling us that we 'aim' to spend full cap has to do with whether we are actually spending it or not, you do the maths there's no way that we are spending to the cap this year. IIRC the comment about Westerman being paid for out of profits was before Berrigan left so I'm not sure what relevance it has now.

Oh, and when the offical statements are made by Jimmy 'Goebbels' Rule, then yes I think rumour and speculation are often more credible

this is just another (poor) rumours thread, people posting opinion and claiming it to be fact.

We planned on spending full cap, Berrigan and Tansey have since left. We've brought in Obst and Phelps, while also paying a fee for Obst. I'm not denying there is probably cap space left, just that it won't be anywhere near the 150k reported that Westerman cost. There's also rumours that O'Meleys deal was back loaded, why not believe this one? Doesn't it suit your argument.

I'm not making any argument mate, it's clear as day to me that we aren't spending anywhere near the cap this year, if you want to toe the official line and say that you think we are then that's fair enough. I just happen to think it's naive to think the board are selflessly re-investing the majority of the profit they make to better the squad.

The Rule comment was tongue in cheek as you well know, although he is the guy that's always saying what a top coach Rich Agar is and how he's definitely the man for the job etc... doesn't exactly help his credibility does it?

Yer you might be right there, maybe we aren't saving enough to finance buying Westerman and Obst without dipping into some of the profits, not to the degree I thought you were implying though. It wasn't really an accusation anyway, the club said Westerman was being bought using profits before Berrigan and Tansey left so I always assumed that claim was null and void now.

Your "debating skills", of which you seem to have over a rather overemphasised belief in your own, seem to stretch no further than than having a rather over the top grudge against Richard Agar and his "accent" and how "thick" he is and comparing our chief exec to a Nazi.
