| Quote: jordanp "What the Allams have promised city is just what football needs, I'm not sure if it's just a pipedream though, I hate city but if the Allams are genuine they seem like the best kind of owners around at the moment, talk of 10 quid tickets, share issues, sustainability etc should be music to every football supporters ears, especially when you see scum like the Glazers in charge of Manchester United or the reckless spending of some of the clubs it's refreshing, I'm not sure if they are just naive though.
Rugby league and Hull FC especially are in less need of this, the game is closer to the fans as it is and we live by our own means, has people have said if it ain't broke don't fix it, but the Allams seem genuine enough up to now.'"
I am no Man Utd fan, but I cannot understand why you would use such venom against a group of people who took an investment in a company. During their ownership they have won the Champions league and the Premier league (3 times). That company was a PLC, meaning anyone could buy shares in it. If you want someone to "hate", look not further than Louis and Martin Edwards
back OT, and the second comment highlighted. You might want to do a bit of historical digging on the Allams before you make judgement on them. Anyone who has worked for any companies based around the Docks should be aware of the Allams business ethics of a few years ago. Lets just say many companies and small business's were made to suffer at their hands.
To those who are starting to wet themselves at the first sign of interest in Hull FC, don't let your hatred of the current board cloud your judgement. Many seem to have forgotton the shining knight that was David Lloyd
I find the lack of objectivity of some on here a worry. The refusal to accept that the current board are actually doing a decent job and the tunnelled view of wanting them out despite the progress the club has made is basically vengful.
The Club is now closer to the fans than it ever has been. It runs at a modest profit meaning we are not reliant on borrowing amounts we could no longer afford to pay back. It appears some still think the directors should run the club for free
They have backed their choice of coach. Under normal circumstances this would be applauded. IMO they have got this wrong and Agar should have been given until the end of last season to prove himself.

Apart from Moran at Wire, the others you quote do not get any real cash from a singal benefactor
I know we have had our differences in the past.
I see no reason why that should change, as basically your head is far to far up your own @r$e to realise whats what

Agree with most of your post except this bit, the club is still so far removed from its fans.

| Quote: Mrs Barista "I very much doubt the club is so awash with cash that the board take salaries to reduce the number to an "acceptable" level. The context here is that the majority of clubs, pretty much all including Warrington and Wigan IIRC, have notes in their accounts that the accounts are only prepared on a going concern basis because of the confirmation of ongoing support by the directors. FC pay hundreds of thousands in rent to the SMC, this much you can deduce from their accounts, it's hardly a gift-wrapped peppercorn rent. So in summary we have big outgoings and turn in better results than most of the competition. I don't believe that all 5 directors can be living it up at our expense, although obviously this is just an opinion, albeit with some pieces of "evidence".
Most of the other boards in SL have directors shovelling money in left right and centre. Is it so ludicrous that, if the venture is cost-neutral, that it's an interesting hobby?'"
No, it's perfectly plausible. The Hetheringtons have had some ups and downs, but I don't think anybody could say they are scared of a challenge or don't care about the sport. KH and the rest of your board have overseen a period of intial recovery and then fairly dramatic development, including the high-point of a Challenge cup triumph. Why then do you think there is such ambivalence about them? With the current exception of Wakefield most clubs' fans (judging by these forums at least) seem to have a more positive attitude towards the people in charge.
Tbh I think it'd be harsh to begrudge KH a wage - we've all got to eat and they aren't people who brought in massive wealth from outside the sport (Sheffield was set up with a few grand made selling double-glazing iirc).
I suppose if it sits in the assets column it boosts the value for any eventual sale - but £3m looks like a good deal based on your assumptions. Maybe they are just misunderstood.

I think there's a section of our fans who haven't really got to grip with the idea of a club being run professionally rather than as a hobby. The fact that our BOD isn't made up of fans willing to bankrupt the club on the altar of success at all costs seems to irk them.
Kath hailing from Leeds seems to be a big issue for some as well.
In other words, no logical or rational reasons.

I think it is the Leeds connection with the Hetheringtons what irks a lot of fans, when you look at what they have achieved since 2005 CC compared to us.

The Hetheringtons are not in sole control at either club. In fact, Gary is an employee at Leeds. Hence the lack of logic in being irked by the connection.

| TBH at this present time the club is probably the most successful it ever has been off field but the lack of success on field is clouding peoples views I feel.
Its is safe and secure in the fact it runs on its own finances and not beholding to a sugar daddy for cash. The club is unrecognisable from the club in the days of the Boulevard as it is now a professional business which can only be a good thing. Yes they board at times shoot themselves in the foot with some of the things they do but in general I feel we the fans have more access to the club than we have had for many a year.
If the clubs off field success can be replicated to on field success then no one can really have any call to complain (well apart from Bighead maybe lol).
We now have strong foundations in place to continue to build on which sadly cant be said of others in SL that lurch from one crisis to another.
As a Hull fan I am happy that the club seems to be in safe hands but a little disappointed in the lack of success on field which is the next step the club need to achieve.

My father was a director in the halcyon days, bringing Bunting in etc. He always said the board he was part of were a bunch of lifelong fans of the club who, as directors, were enthusiastic amateurs with the ability to put some cash in. When that cash dried up (or was no longer enough to keep them at the top) the wheels came well-and-truly off (for decades) and it has taken this professional board a long time to re-attach them. They have done a marvellous job: and if anyone thinks Mrs Hetherington is not passionate about the club they ought to spend some time in her company when the team are losing - and you only need a short conversation with her to see what a fundamental grasp of the game she has. We have more chance of sustained success with this board than we have ever had in my lifetime.
As for Richard Agar, I believe that they are showing faith in their choice of coach also as a long-term investment believing that if he comes up with the goods he will be the catalyst of that success. I am also sure that the Board are business people and, therefore, there is a point of no return for him beyond which failure will mean the end of his tenure - and that will be some time during this season. If he is successful (and I don't know how they will measure that success, although I would expect it will involve a top four finish and/or an appearance at Wembley) expect another extension to his contract.
