Moa's Minx sounds alright icon_wink.gif icon_lol.gif

I will keep it, don't get me wrong I like Berro, and he is/was one of the best players in the world at one point imo...it is just a shame he never hit those heights with us.

change the first bit to Monaghans?

Its true that n.i. doesn't count on the cap. it was taken off due to the way it was cheaper to employ an aussie so no panic on the cap situation.

what is it you think well miss?

the last remaning member of the drinking culture that was cleared out last year?
the lack of leadership on the pitch that you'd expect from a top earner ex ozzie intenational?
the lack of game-changing performances that youd expect once in a while at least?

genuinly interested what you think he brings to the team that is so valuable?

I agree with what you imply and if Rule is to "blame" then that's good work in my view and partly makes up for doing the wrong deal when he was signed. We needed a marquee player , a leader and ideally a halfback. We got none of those , by Berrigan's own admission he certainly wasn't a leader. The deal was probably a bit of a panic buy and was too long. It's hampered our team building strategy ever since. Course we now have to see the freed up cap used wisely -if it's true.

My view on wether it's true or not....

In the past JR and Hull FC have been very quick to scotch rumours that aren't true, on this, the silence is deafening.

Read quite a few people saying that about Berrigan, absolute tosh in my opinion..very good players stand out in a poor team and the very best ones make those around them perform above themselves.

and a good player can be absolutely useless if he hasn't got anybody of quality to work with, 2008 and 2009 prime examples when less than average players were given big contracts! at times berro did stand out in games, some of his passing and movements were to much for fellow players

Either way its not a problem for me. If he goes we have cash available for a quality half to try and prize out now. If he stay he will hopefullt play abit at right centre and show us exactly what we have missed. He will also help bring on Briscoe abit(if Briscoe is seen a a centre then having berro or Monaghan etc would be Ideal for a year for him to work with.

Quote: knocker norton "Dont mistake creates chances from nothing to mean as a centre, he hasnt played centre yet.

The first game of the season away at saints he scored a try from nothing from 90 metres. Strength, speed and a side step. Warrington away near end of season he got the ball stood still opposite Riley and put on a Newlove esque sidestep and strong finish - a finsh few others would have made.

For England his break from the Graham pass to calmly draw the full back (OK it was only PNG) and put Clubb away suggest he is more then just a finisher who is not aware of players around him.

The fact he has played wing so much in his short career I think is giving people a pre judged idea that may not be totally accurate of what Tom has to offer.'"

My thoughts are just that the times he has created something out of nothing have been him pouncing on a loose ball or kick, or beating a defender 1 on 1. Those chances come along much more often on the wing than in the centres.

I'm not saying he won't be a good centre, I honestly do think he should be tried there, I just don't see evidence that his success there would be guaranteed to the level we've seen from him on the wing. He could become a very good centre, but he may also become a great winger.

For this season at least though, I think he should still start on the wing.

Quote: Big Dave T "i may be wrong but hadn't he just made a break playing centre in 2008 final when he broke his ankle? Also, examples are limited in senior game but he was more than decent there in juniors. I'm convinced he'll be a star there, agar will play whiting though
Although TBF, probably never as good as Craig Hall was at the same level. It can be unwise to assume he'll carry it into the first team. FWIW though, I do think he seems mentally stronger than Hall and shows more signs of learning from his mistakes.

Have they?

In all honesty, the only time I can recall Rule officially commenting on a rumour in the recent past was Cooke. The usual line is 'we don't comment on speculation'.

In fact, the last rumour denial from Agar was Westerman wasn't it?

Are they, though?

Quote: Standee ""As our fans are fully aware we make it a point of principle not to comment on rumour concerning Hull FC"'"

I recall only the Cooke saga and Westy been ruled out this season out of numerous rumours, some of which have made the papers, and we then know what happened with Westy.
