There's too much at stake for the club not to 'engage the fans'
The people that run the club are doing a fine job off the field - recruitment has been good so far (2010)
We (Hull Fc) gambled and overloaded the forwards hoping for a bit of luck in the injury department and it failed (again) one thing is for sure in 2011 we need a better balanced squad.
I'm sure there'll be more signings to come; some fans just want to hear about them upfront (myself included) but we should all realise that's not how this club does its business.
Someone will probably pick me up for being a club pacifist; I can assure you I am not. I crave for this club to be up at the top and I [ido[/i hold those at the club responsible for us underachieving. Let’s make no bones about it
Don't get me wrong, I'll be there as well. Just commenting the momentum of the PR tidal wave we were on the end of last year has dissipated somewhat after getting beaten on Saturday so the club will have some work to do with the floating voters to persuade them to renew.

| Quote: Mrs Barista "A few points on this one. Firstly without the current set of directors there would be no club. At all. Secondly this board has presided over what IMO is the most impressive turnaround in financial performance in the competition, returning profit for 5 consecutive years. Thirdly the club still has negative P&L reserves, therefore payment of any dividends to directors is illegal under the Companies Act. They may take a salary, but given there are only 3 clubs in profit, we spend the salary cap and a big wedge to the SMC and have a decent academy set-up to run, salaries are unlikely to be massive for all 5 shareholder directors. Anyone believing the whole board have invested in Hull FC for massive personal financial gain are utter loons.'"
Come on Mrs B rugby league clubs have been a well known cash cow since Adam and Eve. And you know as well as I do there are a whole raft of investors chomping at the bit in these cash rich times to jump in and take us to that next level.

I could have sworn that I agreed that the present board would be unlikely topull the rug from under the club.

Nobody is disputing we have turned around as a club off the field and it is something i have backed the club 100% over. Some people slate Rule/Kath etc but i think they have done an outstanding job on the whole. However the major part of the club is on the field and we have failed to deliver for to long and the fans are getting sick of it.
Nobody should be expecting us to win everything or anything for that matter. However what they should be expecting is to be able to compete with the other teams around them and we have failed to do this for too long. I love this club with a passion but there comes a point when you have to draw a line and that point is different with each and every one of us.

Quite. It's illegal to pay a dividend as we still have negative P&L reserves. We are one of only 3 clubs to make a profit (Warrington's off the back of CC success), and spending the full cap means the directors can't be taking huge salaries or the numbers simply wouldn't add up. I find it utterly staggering that people honestly believe that all 5 shareholder directors are syphoning off funds from a business the size of Hull FC and living a Simon Cowell-esque luxury lifestyle off the back of it. They may make a few quid when they sell the club, but no bugger else would put the money in to save us, and the business valuation will take into account the self-sustaining business model they have worked hard to achieve, so good luck to them.

People get very confused and take any critism of the club as an attack on it, its not that at all. The club have been very good off field and with the finances superb, I support that and always have . The club has fallen down is in the coaching department, since JK left we have struggled. The present board have long had problems with our coaching staff, Bomber lost a very good player to another club simply because they knew what we had offered him. His relationship was at best rocky once Richo left to return to Oz and it continued and got worse after he left. JK was never paid the proper rate, only as an assisitant thats mainly why he left as he refused to perform a lot of off field activities .
This is a grade A club and that demands a Grade A coach not a reserve grade coach given the title, A coach who is allowed to manage and select the team.
perhaps we may see another one of our coaching staff depart this week

The team has needed rebuilding and it's a painful process at times none more so than losing a game like the other night. Our style must improve to be successful. IMO we still don't have the players in play making positions to be at the very top and possibly not the coach. The improvement process must continue and it's getting harder with fewer quality players available. We haven't got it right yet but we are getting there. We were hopeless at home for 2 years but this year we were within a hair's breadth of the best home record in the league. At times we're still dire but better than we were. If progress on the field next year stagnates or goes backwards then the coach should be replaced IMO. If support falls away the resources will disappear and the club will fall backwards and become less attractive to outside players and coaches - even less attractive than it seems to be already. Support is critical to success and that is my whole point here.

I don't dispute any of your points however (as your quoting me directly) please show me where I said the directors where in this for 'massive' personal gain? Also please make me aware of any points in the quoted post which are incorrect? Anyone beleiving this board have invested money in Hull FC to lose money overall are also utter loons!! They may have been willing to make short term losses but you know as well as I do they are here to make long term profits.

Was combining your and Ian P's "golden goose" points - you said the directors motivation was to make money, my argument would be that few business people would invest in sporting clubs if they were serious about a financial return being their primary motivation. They've been in the business for 10 years or so the fact that they're still miles and miles off being able to take a dividend means it's a very very long payback period. As stated, they'll make a few quid when they sell, but off the back of work they've done to make us one of the only self-sustaining businesses in the competition, so deservedly so.

| Quote: roamintherange "I've just posted on the Agar debate thread that I won't be renewing my pass next year. We save what amounts to 3 games by getting a pass which IMO only represents good value if the team offer value on the pitch. Based on what I've seen this year I'm going to keep the cash in my pocket and wait and see what we perform like, if we play as we all hope then I'll glady take the hit and pay for the additional 3 games (either that or watch 3 home games on Sky) at the end of the day I'm not gambling £185+ on us playing like we have for the last three years again. I completley agree though that for what they cost the kid's passes are a no brainer
That was exactly my thinking for this year. If we're playing the kind of stuff I like to watch I won't care it costs me a bit extra, but forking out nigh-on £200 and then being miserable would be the real waste.
