| Quote: The Dentist Wilf "You now thats right an all we get from Lancs and clubs further away is that we are out on a limb and hard to get to on a Friday night or even a Sunday afternoon in your case. Fact is every week 3000 supporters from both clubs treck all the way from this 'out on a limb' place to get to away games its nothing to do with location its to do with commitment to your club. I think it should be a point in the Franchise conditions IE the number of away fans a club takes to financially support other clubs.'"
good point my friend.. we take a awful lot of fans everywhere we travel to and all from a city that is clearly up to its neck in unemployment and so on, so other teams travelling here have no excuse in my opinion as our fans ALWAYS travel miles to every game, i guess you could say every single match we play apart from cas and KR are out on a limb to us and our fans
it is as you say all about commitment or not

| as i believe someone said earlier in the thread, and i agree with totally..
Non of this criteria malarky and one to go down one to come up tosh, just simply pick the best teams / set ups and put em in SL, if that means three NL! clubs are better than three in SL then so be it!!
Pick the best and you get the best , and no more of this manufacturing sides to join SL, have some blooudy commitment to clubs who have been around for donkeys, never mind RFL manufacured teams and clubs!!!

| When is the Sky contract up for renewal, only reason I use this thread for this question is does anyone think more pressure will be placed on the RFL to admit and expel clubs SKY want.
It is well documented that Sky is having to sell rights off to other broadcasters at a reduced rate and as such may try to downgrade money paid to other sports. They could well use this to influence the RFL who are an independant body, but we all know who the PAYMASTERS are.
Just a thought.
What does everyone else think, could this be a factor?

plus the two sides who make this seasons grand final - if that was fev v sheffield, that could beinteresting as FEv have quietly built in the background and could ironically be the only side from the Cas/Wakey area in the SL. Whats to say only one will drop out?

I believe out of this 4, Widnes are the only team to meet all of the RFL's crieria.
You can also add Toulouse to that list of teams elidagble to apply due to any overseas team been invited to apply regardless of them appearing in a final

| Weren't there rumours around last time the licences were announced that widnes were promised a place next time if they didn't challenge the decision?
Seems bizarre to arbitrarily say one team will be promoted before they've seen every application

| Anyone suggesting a Cumbrian team for Superleague needs to have their bumps felt. Can't you remember just what a roaring success Workington Town turned out to be?

| I think Wakefield will go with Widnes replacing them. Although id like to see Harlequins and Salford join them as they both offer nothing ( although salford look to be pulling together a decent side for next season )

| Should be Quins who drop out (I'm in favour of expansion, but this club is dropping like a stone and there simply isn't enough people interested)
but I can see it being Wakefield, particularly after the poor season they are having. The RFL would have found it harder to ditch them if they were still in the playoffs, but this season they've really gone backwards.

| 14 teams is too many. Ditch 3, promote one and pull up the drawbridge. Not enough money or quality players for 14 teams, hence the dirge that has been most of the games I've seen either live or on TV this season

Tend to agree that the quality's better with 12, but you either end up with fewer games and therefore lower ticket income, or the stupid "playing an extra 4 games" scenario.

| Only Widnes currently meet ALL of the criteria needed to move up to SL AFAIK.
1 Club has reached a Championship final or won the Northern Rail Cup in 2009 or 2010.
2 Club has a stadium with an operational capacity of 10,000.
3 No insolvency event has occurred during the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons.
4 Club has turnover of at least £1,000,000 in financial year ending 2009 or 2010 (turnover of charitable foundation can be included in this figure).
5 Club has an average attendance of at least 2,500 in 2009 or 2010.
