It really does baffle me how some of you can't see this. You dont seem to grasp the SIMPLE FACT that a team is weakened when its KEY PLAYERS get injured. Its not rocket science..but just for you,,,I'll simplify it.
Ready?
Here goes.......
Try to immagine a gladiator going into the arena armed with a handbag and some rude words to shout....Got that image?
OK...thats basicaly what we're dealing with. His main stabbing weapons are missing...but if he hits hard enough with his handbag (maybe inserts a brick or two) and doesnt have a sore throat...he might get lucky.
See.....its easy......No Team......slim chance......please try to let that sink in eh?

| Quote: Father Ted "As a Wigan fan reading this I think it's fair to point out a few things.
First you had a very good win last week against your biggest rivals whereas Wigan were beaten by the 2nd club in the league.
2nd, Wigan's coach has gone to Aus for family reasons and Shaun Wane took over. He went with a different squad selection than McGuire.MM would not have picked Feka he would have gone with three props instead.
3rd Wane would not go away from home anywhere without four props being an ex prop himself.
4th Wane knew his pack with four props would get the better of the Hull forwards. That plan came off! He then put Deacon at 6 who he knew could dominate the game with his passing and kicking game being behind a winning pack. Which came off! S Tomkins went to fb to add pace to an already fast set of backs. That worked too.
5th Wane also had players injured. Phelps, Roberts, McIlorum, O'Carroll, Bailey & Mossop.
Hull though didn't help themselves.
Hall had a nightmare.
Tansey ditto!
The pack tried hard but don't have the game plan or technique Wigan now have under McGuire.
The Hull pack was beaten and therefore your halves hadn't a prayer and were not seen. Wigan had the measure of Houghton where HKR didn't.
You need a new coach! A bit of luck with injuries.
What worries me though is that your juniors who come through don't improve.
Is Horne any better than 10 years ago?
Wheeldon has gone.
Washbrook, Yeaman, etc don't seem to improve at all.
Briscoe is the only one who is improving season on season.
I do think you need technical skills coaches for your first team and U age teams.
You also need a new BOD. This lot are clueless.
You could be one of the best in SL and challenge for everything every year if you had top class management.
At Wigan we did nothing apart from a CC win in 2002 under Dave Whelan's management in 12 years.
Ian Lenagan took over for the start of the 2008 season, made the changes needed and this year 2010 we could finish top of the league with a bit of luck.
It doesn't take long to turn things around when you have good management.
You don't have it.
Your BOD are dreadful and it is they who need to be changed before your club can hit the heights.
You are a great club with tremendous support and a youth system with real quality youngsters. Your BOD should have a better coach and squad than you have and by some measure too.
Sorry for going on but RL needs a really strong HullFC.'"
You've manged to identify every request on the average Hull fan's wish list after just one viewing!

Quite agree as will many Hull fans. Seems the board are more interested in the profit margin than serious investment in the coaching set up which in all fairness will more than likely increase the fanbase and attendance wih better and more consistent performances and being coached into being serious challengers.
With the club doing so well off the field it makes it even more frustrating they are failing on it.

How on earth can you slate the performance last night!! fair enough we was average but guess what open your eyes we are an average team with the players we had out last night.
do you really expect us to win 100% of out games??? its wigan ffs they aint sitting top for no reason!! with the injuries we have had to key players longy o'meeley fitzy and then earlier on in the season horne we have done very well to sit where we are. if we had the payers do you really think hall would be playing??? but we do have injuries and he has to play!! no need to sledge him even more look what your doing to him making him even worse!!
Just come on all you so called experts give it a rest!!'"
I know what you are saying, it is embarrassing on here at times, because if we win we are brilliant and if we lose its Agar out.
However to say you can accept losing 46-0 at home is also embarrassing in itself. I didn't expect to win on Friday, i'm no fool and I know a Good team when I see one and Wigan are a very good team this term. But its the basics which really annoy me which we are failing to do with a full strength side!
Defence - We must be up there with the worst defence in the league, forgot the points againt for a moment and just focus on our technique. Its all too wrong, we never turn the player over on there backs, thus always giving the opposition a quick play the ball which more then not often leads to us giving a penalty away. We have no clue on how a sliding defence works, watching Tomkins step in on the inside against Lauaki and Turner was painful to watch. This is not to mention the amount of offloads we let oppositions have.
Kick Returns - We are so lazy at our kick returns it is unbelievable, I've watched players all season just laze back to get the ball or even worse they let it bounce because they won't catch it on the full. Again this leads to us starting a set in poor field position, conceding a goal line drop out or at times even conceding tries.
Dummy Runners - More the lack of TBH, players are just standing still when we have the ball. I know the half backs will take alot of blame for this which they should do in a way but it needs the other players to work with them for them to be able to do there job effectively. I really felt for Berrigan on Friday night when he got the ball with a bit of space out wide and they was nobody giving him options, in the end I he just had to take the line on or passed it to Manu and hoped he could make something of it.
Kick and Chase - No enthuasisim in this area for me and the one player (Calderwood) who only did this is out for the season. A kick is only as good as its chase and we simply dont put a chase together, the only hope we have is if its a 40/20 or the other team knock on.
Structure - We are too structured in the things we do, you know everything we are going to do before its actually in motion. Pass ball wide to Tansey and hope for the best, it seems the only move we have going. We also have an annoying habit of taking the ball up standing still.
Backing up the ball carrier - Saints basically won alot of silverware by perfecting this, the amount of times on Friday were they was half chances for people to offload and nobody was backing them up. We are the only team who offload the ball to go backwards.
Overall our enthuasism isn't what it should be, we looked like we had decided we was beat on Friday and we just had to throw some players out just to participate in the game. Its games like these were you really find out how good your coach is in my opinion and just like when you play the lesser teams, you need to have the ability to motivate them. You need to make the young guys believe they can win and no matter what happens go out and give it there all. For me Agar just can't get his players to do this, ok we won the derby but thats two games out of the season, you need to do this every week.
Fridays performance would have never happened under the McRae regime, or even the Peter Sharp one. (I know we took trouncings under these two, I mean more like on our home ground)
I'm sure agar is a good coach but he's just not a head coah for me, not got the personality. He can do as many doubles over Rovers as he can, still won't make him a top class head coach for me.

Asolutly right fella, the talk for long enough has been about the seemingly lack of foresight our board has. We can't do a lot about this until some arab sheik appears from somewhere and buys us out, but your other comments are just what the majority have been saying for long enough.
Since our Grand Final appearance in 2006 we have failed miserably where we should have 'kicked-on'.
We have appointed wrong coaches as a cheap option.
Agar is a good assistant but not ready for a first team job.
The board have made stupid mistakes and just let the club drift, pacifying the fans with so-called big signings to keep us sweet (some have been good however but just sweeteners.)
Your views on our tactics are spot on, we rarely get the balance right taking aside injuries.
The young guns have in general not progressed and Yeaman has been stifled through the lack of no half backs, in my view he is still a class act but not used.
A lack of foresight again with no back-up plan for Long, he was never going to play many games and when he does he plays catch up for match fitness then is injured again. Not his fault, but a fact that has not been confronted prior to the season.
You lot seem to have got the formula right and with the will to do the same we could be right where you are now. Thanks for your comments

If you are Wigan fan I don't see why you should care at all about how strong other clubs are. You say that RL needs a strong Hull FC, well I think RL is doing fine as it is. So it should be just taken for granted that Hull should be a strong side. I think you're being disrespectful to other clubs that are making big strides in the last few years without the help that Hull have had such as the merger and the council funded KC.

Ye mate enjoy your fun while it lasts as I was laughing my tits off on Friday and we scored 47 on Saturday without being at our best at all. Last week was your cup final performance. We just shrugged our shoulders and moved on. We will meet in the play offs and if I was you , I'd fear the worst. Can't see you winning many games if any for the rest of the season and we may finish above you, and that would be great.
