If he has had a crash in confidence then he isn't mentally strong enough to be playing at this level. Comparing Long to Thorman is comparing chalk and cheese. Hull's pack, problems though it has certainly had, hasn't actually been beaten up in every game either. Both of this season's derbies are testament to that. Failure to hold the ball has been a major issue, and when we have had field position our halves have not had the skill or guile to create enough chances to score points. ATEOTD the very last quality a half back needs is to be weak mentally and suffer a crisis of confidence. The cocky variety that make things happen are a far better bet which is why I look forward to next year (a bit). |
