| I don't get these arguments about him doing well out of the club. Financially, he's done ok, but it's not like he'll be retiring to the Seychelles is it? He's enjoyed a reasonable standard of living and why shouldn't he? He plays hard, has been one of the best players in the country at certain times of his career, has put up with injuries which will no doubt take their toll as he gets older and unlike others does at least turn up for community events.
Why are people so grudgeful against King? Everyone on here will know folk who are better off in life and maybe don't particularly seem to have earned it. If that's your opinion about Kingy, so be it, that's just the way it is, get over it.
Yes, he did well out of his testimonial and I for one was happy to pay the fiver for his programme. For the bulk of the 10 years he had played, he had done more than enough for me to justify that contribution.

| Quote: Uncle Junior "TBF I've seen the states he gets himself into for myself more than once (and that's not to mention the disciplinary issues he's had with the club). I can see why some people wish to defend him but it's not true to say that the basis for a lot of people's dislike of him is 'pure rumour'.'"
Like I said earlier if he drank to the extent he is alledged to drink then he has a drinking problem.
He obviously hasn't got a drinking problem so the accusations and constant slagging must be based on reputation and not fact.
I dont disagree that there will have been times that he will have been seen ratted. I just think because of his reputation one pint will be made into ratted.
On the field he is the traditional type of prop, one of a dying breed. Still a clever player and without injuries can still do a job for us.
With regards to dragging the clubs name down and things like that every function I have been to connected with Hull FC he has been there mingling with fans.

While not wishing to suggest in any way that he [idoes[/i have a drinking problem, I'd be interested in what you consider to be the obvious signs that he hasn't. Given that people with drinking problems frequently manage to hide them from family and close friends until the later stages.

Possibly the biggest clue would be the ability to train full time and maintain his health and fitness which will be monitored heavily.
Also knowing him a little and members of his close family well and having spoken to him frankly about this very issue and hearing his reply.

There are degrees of everything. He could get ripped to the tits three nights a week and still train every day (though not as effectively as he would do otherwise, granted). Whilst he may not drink all day every day, getting wasted that regularly could be said to be a 'drink problem'. Particularly for a pro sportsman. Not saying it is the case, just that it's possible.

What's he gonna say?
"Yeah, I make George Best look like a choirboy, Nige."

| Why dont you all get off the kids back, he likes a drink which so do a lot of us but that doesnt make him a alchoholic. I think he has more heart, passion and commitment for this club than half the team put together which for me goes alot further than his (drink problem).
