Try working out how much city and SMC will make on the extra seats per season and set that against the cost of building
10k x 20 games at £25 say = around £500,000 extra revenue for a spending around £15 million ....................... keep telling me Duffen will pay

Shouldn't that be £5,000,000?

Duffen did approach HCC 2 months ago to review the piece of work that was done 12-24 months ago to price the expansion. He simply wanted the price re-working based on the current economic climate.
40000 was talked about as being the extension number with the additional seats being on the top of the east stand and then one of north or south stand i believe.
Any developments would be funded by Duffen. This doesnt impact Hull FC in any way other than our season possibly being disrupted by any developments. Will not be happening prior to the next premiership season though as far as im aware.

Probably more a case of that what you are hoping.
I prefare to see as much top flight sport based in our city as possible. Hosting games for the World Cup would be great for Kingston upon Hull.

| The capacity can change due to how the segregate the away fans, number of stewards, sterile areas etc etc . I believe they also lost some space when the press area was extended and at televised games.
And obviusly if some SP holders/ Corps miss games

| Don't really see city filling 24,000 even if they did stay up for a few years, wigans ground was full every home game in there first season up, it soon levelled out as it will for city.

Disagree, City has a far wider catchment area for neutrals to go watch the game too. IMO they could fill 40k without a doubt consistently.

I don't think there is any chance that city could sell 40k tickets week in , week out. Maybe for the games against nal, liverpool and man u but not the rest

Not sure they'll get 40K consistently, but I'd reckon 25K will be a sellout for the forseeable future (as evidenced by the fact 19K odd passes were sold when there was still a chance they'd get relegated).

Just saying how i see it. City were lucky very lucky to stay up, next season they will not start like they did this season so the odds are they will go down.

| Quote: redwhite&proud "not coming on here trolling and a bit o/t , but I read in the daily express today that paul duffen is in talks with HCC with regards to expanding the KC to 40k, I was wondering what you guys thought of this?
I was having a few drinks with a mate who is a hull fan and his thoughts were that if the extension was to be built then hull should move out.
there is no doubt that the kc is a fantastic ground and its not too bad as it is now when halfull but a 40k stadium with lets say your average gate of 14k sure is going to feel empty( a bit like hudds ground) and lacking in atmosphere.
we both came to a conclusion that , since hull would have a ground that is perhaps above their needs and kr have a ground that is somewhat lacking then would it not make sense to build a purpose built rugby ground for both clubs to share(not near c.p or the boulevard so as to be neutral). we both figured a ground capacity of say 18k with both seated and terraced areas would probably suffice for a new ground but with an option to use the kc for derby days and any other games that might significantly exceed the new grounds capacity.
I know there are probably many people on both sides of the river that would baulk at this idea but it I feel it would make financial sense to both clubs (I would presume you get a rent increase at the kc if expanded?)to share the costs of one ground. our only worry was that if the two clubs were to ground share then you might start to get the "well why not merge" question coming from the rfl?!(which I am totally against)
whats your thoughts? (if any!)'"
My thoughts are
The council build Hull City a new ground 40k
Hull FC and Hull KR share the KC...... (any new 18k not big enough for derby games) ....
Hull KR sells Craven Park and uses the dosh for whatever tickles their fancy

I was informed the club were given an estimate of around 7 million to build the extra stand so on your calculations after the first season it would have paid 5 million of that off.
I was also told the club were not going ahead with the building work until the club could manage to establish itself in this league anyway !

They wont sell out every week but i reckon theyll get near to it for at least the first few seasons depending what kind of team they play and how they price the tickets. If i could get a ticket i'd definately pick and choose and go to some games, im sure others would too.
