joe was by far our most consistent forward last year. He gets stick every week when players play worse than him. Totally unjustified. The lads 23 ffs. I for one am glad he has signed a new deal and earned it. Good luck westy.

Glad he's signed on again I think his spirit is his biggest attribute and he is one of the few for whom it seems to matter when out on the pitch. I agree with his assessment of his own game and hopefully he can raise his overall level whilst maintaining consistency. Let's hope Lee Radford can bring the best out of him.

Good news. Underrated by folk who don't actually watch what goes on, but one of our better forwards and still bags of potential to improve further.

Some comments on here make me laugh, if people have a differing opinion they can't actually watch a game properly!.

My opinion is that he is only average, but will hopefully improve. I actually find him lazy at times and for me he gets caught out defensively trying to put big hits in and failing, played out wide used properly he'll hopefully come good. The fact that some are saying he was our most consistent forward probably somes our season up.

To be fair he has not been quite as prolific at Hull as he was at Cas so far but I think he makes a huge contribution. A good clue was his worth in the Fantasy RL points stats...think he is about the highest and it is not even his best position.

For me I don't necessarily think its laziness more a case of tiredness from expelling energy. Again he's been used like Ellis as an extra battering ram instead of where both him & Ellis can be devastating down the edges. A proper structured attack utilising the skills of Westerman & Ellis will make a huge difference to us and give us a different dimension altogether.

I personally think that's the least accurate of all the criticisms that are levelled at him. Error counts, penalties, the missed big hits, etc. I can at least see people making a case, but lazy?
