| A bit like the "minutes away from 4th place" line.
Always an excuse. Always some spin. Don't think people will fall for it anymore though.

Quote: Isaiah "If not injuries, then it always seems to be the team, or certain individual players who are at fault. I may be wrong, but I don't think that Agar has ever openly stuck his hand up for a poor performance.'"
Except for last week?

I'm sure there have been others over the last three years where he's taken the blame.

Saying the "buck stops with me", and "I got it wrong" are not the same.

You asked if Agar had ever openly stuck his hand up after a poor performance. Well, there you go. Just 7 days ago.
Don't start throwing in quotes of what you'd hoped he said and then comparing what he did say to your quote. ''Buck stops with me'' isn't the same as ''I'm a rubbish coach and I'm leaving with immediate effect'' - that's what I'd hoped he said.
He's taken it on the chin and taken the responsibility for the defeat, give him that atleast.

| The thing is a lot of fans take the excuses in, the biggest one is the "we didn't have our first choice halfbacks" it was accepted that 2010 was a right off because of injuries to Long and Horne, It was almost made out that no side has ever or ever will do well if there 6 and 7 don't play every game. look at Saints the quality of there squad was on the downfall and Eastmond and Pryce misses big chunks of the season (even the play offs if I recall) and they made the GF, I'd agree there is a massive excuse culture at the club, I'm sure hearing Rule at the fans forums and radio etc going into spin mode must transfer to the players.

| Any amount of excuses or spin does not alter the total disinterest which is creeping into some supporters thinking I.M.O.
I cannot remember the last home game I have missed, but I am seriously considering missing the Cas game.
I pay entrance fee to be entertained. It is not happening, with the price of entry, the bridge and petrol I feel its not worth the effort.
It pains me to feel this way.

| I've never played rugby seriously, so maybe someone can enlighten me, why are the players/coach saying its going fine in training they just can't produce on the pitch and they know what they need to do? I can understand one player having an off day, but all of them having an off season?! Is it purely the coach(es) not being able to motivate them or lack of confidence? This team can be a team of winners, but at the moment they aren't playing like that ...why?

| There's been loads of different excuses over the past 3 seasons but then nothing done about it. I agree with the posters earlier that have asked why under performing players haven't been dropped and the kids given a game. It's usually the one or two scapegoats sacrificed like Hall had been or like Washy when the reality is that often lots of other players have cost us big style with mistakes and indiscipline.
I've hardly seen us bounce back with a performance in the last 3 years which is even more worrying.

| No doubt about this one for me, it comes from the very top down.

Agree. They set the standards and develop the organisations culture as well as setting the toleration levels.

The difference being that our squad has lacked the quality in depth of those other sides. Our second string halves simply haven't been up to the job. That isn't an excuse, it's fact - the result of years of poor recruitment and retention.
If you want a better comparison take a look at what's happening across the river with Dobson injured for the first time.

| Can we use the poor excuse of a coach as an excuse?

And development and at all levels throughout the club.

| Quote: Mrs Barista "Undoubtedly. The worst one I think was Radford's excuse at either Lindon or Edinburgh that they'd had to stay over in a hotel.
No, the worst one was definitely when Agar suggested the distance to Murrayfield was partly to blame for us putting in such a terrible performance against the London team.
Agree about the attitude towards club statements. I'm feeling increasingly patronised by the output from the club.
