After four rounds, Long will have played one and a half games....a paltry return....I could be made to eat my words but after a poor return on him last year in terms of game time, I can't help thinking the gamble in signing him has not paid off at all.

Why can't the board just put him through a medical, he fails it and get rid of him, surely if a player is not fit to play rugby, than this should wipe his contract?

Horne and Obst aint gunna cut it, and with long out (and obst been more of a hooker) it only leaves horne and turner in the halves, so where is our back up?
Agar and the board/coaching staff knew of this problem, and from past seasons should have learnt their lesson, either they are plain DAFT, or they don't give a flying F8CK!

But Obst is not just a hooker is he, he's a ball handler and he takes the line on. He will have played far more games at scrum half. He's a massive improvement as an option on what we have had. Yes he could do a job at hooker, no doubt, but he's done enough damage at 7 to plenty of other SL sides to warrant him playing in the halves for us. He had a decent game on sunday, organised us well. Let him roll a while there before folk write him off.

You know nothing of the sort, and TBH levelling an accusation like that at someone of Long's standing on the game is more than a little disrespectful.

Why not try mentioning that to his face rather than spouting insults on an anonymous messageboard?

Yes, it really is that easy. Never mind that the club would be in gross breach of contract, or that we've spent the last few months trying to sign a halfback with zero success. FFS.  |

Obst is a decent addition to the squad but in all those years at Wakey he never nailed down a spot as their starting 7 so he isn't good enough to be ours. He can fill in better than what we had for sure, but ideally he should be playing hooker. |
