in the 50s,when fc played on a saturday afternoon,they used to let us kids in at half time for free.

Did that right until the 90's. Use to do it all the time. Good times.

Only reason is that the turnstiles were only open till half time and the stewards used to open up the main gates at each end so anyone could walk in for free at half time.

My dad used to lift me over the turnstiles during the 80s saying that i think most dads did!

i started going in 82 lifted over the turnstyles, i was 5! used to stand in the best stand, against the slope to the dugouts as i was too small to see or sit on the floodlights base. Eventually ended up on his shoulders. Always remember my half time sip of whiskey or rum to warm me up

i was dumped at the bottom of the threepenny n told not to move while he went up the top with his mates! Could not imagine doing something like that now though tbf we did get to know the people at the bottom who would share their 1/4 of sports mixtures with me!

Its amazing to think how poor the view was at the ends, the people in that photo are miles away from the pitch! it never seemed that far away at the time...i suppose we've been spoiled by the views on offer at the KC.

To be fair, the pitch still looks in better condition than Caravan park!
