| Derbies the way forward. Surly thats supporters wants. It worked in cardiff for 2 years, but try a different format for Edinburgh thats going to fail.
Im a huge fan of the 'magic' weekend, but I doubt next will attract more than this year.
This is what it should be it.
Hull FC v Hull KR
Saints v Wigan
Leeds v Bulls
Cas v Wakefield
Salford v Warrington
Huddersfield v Celtic
Catalans v Quins.

| Nothing in that list of fixtures would tempt me to travel to Edinburgh and spend a fortune.will watch on the Box.The way the RFL continually change the format puzzles me.Never been a fan of the MAGIC weekend but i thought the derby games would have been the best way to go.
could be an embarrassingly empty stadium me thinks.

| Glad we are playing on the Saturday..last year the Saturday seemed to have a real carnival atmosphere and the Sunday was a bit flat by comparison. Will not spend both days at the stadium this year, will go around Edingburgh on Sunday me thinks.

completely agree
i'd be much more tempted to go see a Hull derby.
have to laugh at the RFL press release describing Hull-Quins as an 'intriguing match' the game against Quins at the KC is usually so dull and slow that it makes me consider why I even follow the game!

| I think is preferable to be playing on the Saturday so I'm quite happy with the order of matches.

Because it meant we were playing 4 in a season. With the league now a simple home and away structure an extra derby would be fine.
I was about to say that a draw is the only fair way to do it, but actually the only "fair" thing would be to not have them at all. As it will skew the league standings anyway they might aswell make them interesting games like the derbies and attract more fans to the event.

Good stuff. I can drive up on the Saturday morning, check into hotel, go watch our game, go on the lash, then have all day Sunday on the lash in Edinburgh too.

Indeed I was just going to state the same thing re over doing it with 4 in a season.
However with the so called un-friendly derby next season it would mean once again overkill with 4 times in one year. I bet Huggies won't pull the plug on next years friendly either, like he did the other year over money. Think he'll have to take the meagre few quid Kath gives him and like it He'll just rake in what he can before they go to the wall KR Crusaders does have a ring to it

There's a few pubs around the area, not on the scale of Cardiff though. They were packed last year with fans who were either; waiting for their game, or who had already seen their team and had snook out or left for a pint or two.
Also can you drink alcohol in the ground/at your seat etc ?
In a word, 'Yes'

Totally different experience to Cardiff, not as good in my opinion but still a great weekend and afterall what you make it.
Pre-match all the drinking is in Edinburgh then a taxi ride (about£7) to the Stadium. You can drink inside the stadium and theres plenty of good old fashioned catering vans. Quite a carnival atmosphere as you go through the turnstiles with many staying there until their team was playing.
One bit of advice id give if youre anywhere near the top seats of the stadium take a warm jacket no matter how nice the weather is we were freezing!!!
If you're planning a boozy weekend aim for Princes St and not The Grassmarket!
