| Quote nottinghamtiger="nottinghamtiger"Re: Rangi Chase.
From what I understand he has been refused a visa. This is because, since his last visa was approved, he has earned himself a conviction for GBH. This will still be the case in 6 months and beyond, and is likely to stop him getting another British visa.
It's unfortunate for Hull that his inability to get a visa means he is unable to change employers. However, it might be more unfortunate for Cas who may have a big problem should Chase need to renew his visa before the end of his current contract.
Edit - his only options may be Catalans or NZ Warriors as the Australians are more strict than the UK with regards to visas.'"

| Quote PAUL M="PAUL M"Only confusing thing is we were told 6 done and 1 or 2 to do, one of which was Paea. If we are now trying for two halves then we have gone for an extra half above a prop. Unless there is another deal to do? Or a prop was in the original 6?
Also Horne to fullback is interesting as still rumours that we've signed a fb.'"
I believe theres the '6' signed and then 2 halves and 2 other players we're still trying to sign. As you say it was 6 and 1 half 1 prop, but gentle just doesnt rate seymore so its now to halves. Im guessing the bradford situation could be a factor in the other player we're after.
Horne wont be fullback next season, bench player at best. A fb has been signed I believe, no name though, was told earlier in season mcdonnel was a done deal - 2 years.

Whilst chase has the X factor, maybe holdsworth and brough are a stronger combination. Both have good organisational skills and a good kicking game

Think you're mistaken. For a start, if he had been refused a visa we wouldn't still be working on getting him one. For second, I believe the option that was scuppered by the change in rules was getting him indefinite leave to remain on the grounds of having a British partner and child. This avenue is still very much open but may take longer than we'd like.

| When AP says 2 news halves I wonder if it 1 for the first team to play with Seymour and a back up, as there are no halves contracted under the first team anywhere near ready at the moment.

Seymore would probably go well in a team with Yeamen, Ben Crookes, Jason Crooks, Danny Tickel and Aaron Heremiah.

That's what's perplexing me, but it may be a dates thing. If he's got a visa that qualifies him for that, we wouldn't need to get him a new one to transfer as there are no work restrictions on it. If its due to expire though, we've maybe tried to get it altered/extended to give us as a club some confidence that he'll be with us for the long haul. If it wasn't about to expire, then I'm not sure we needed to do anything to transfer him. Seems odd that such a visa would have allowed him to stay at Cas till the end of next season though.
The only visa that would definitely need a change for him to work for FC is the Tier 2 visa.
The partner visa would tally with Pearson's comment about the recent rule changes too.
Hmmmm.

No, as my username suggests I live in Nottingham.
The criteria for obtaining a working visa (not a right to stay as a later poster mentioned, but a visa that means he can be employed) are freely available, and his GBH conviction most probably means he will refused. Visas are refused on the grounds of much lesser convictions than GBH.

My take - and this is just educated guesswork - is that the transfer/renewal of his existing work visa was problematic so they decide to bypass it completely using the Family Settlement route. Only to find that the rule changes on 9th July scuppered those plans. That would fit with AP's comments regarding the date of the rule change and also his reference to Human Rights challenges.
