Jeez, you Hull folk sure don't like to read reports and such do you?
Reardon didn't beat up his wife. He grabbed her arm causing three bruises on said arm. There are no reports of him hitting or otherwise being violent towards his wife or any other woman at any other time in his life.
The boyfriend, O'Brien, had a rounders bat in the house, not a baseball bat, and he was holding it during the visit of Reardon and Pryce.
Incidentally, and once again, Reardon and Pryce DID NOT break into the house. Reardon sent a text to Mrs Reardon saying their child was in hospital, Mrs Reardon opened the door and Reardon pushed past her into the house. That's what the RL press reports said anyway. Given that the prosecution submitted NO evidence for violent entry, I would believe that version rather than the 'breaking in' version (a broken door sure is evidence, so I can only assume since there was no evidence, there was no broken door). |

Two school of thought here one was highlighted by Sadler in the Rugby League express and it goes something like this ...
Rugby League has a history of offering players who have gone off the tracks a second chance in life to come good and realise what a mistake they have made. The other school of thought seems to be to hang them out to dry and kick them out of the club . For this to happen I believe the RL should have some clear guidelines set within the operational rules and should act quickly and get there act together , after all only this year they have decided to get more professional and introduce rules for playing an ineligible player in a cup competition. If a club have to sack a player then the RFL should compensate the club out of a central fund as the club will not be able to sign a replacement in such a short space of time. That player who gets sacked should then be banned until the end of the season but should not be prevented from playing for another club after serving his ban. With no Rules in place HKR have a duty of care to Ben C, and have done the right thing in offering help and anger management.'"

The RL press first reported it as the text message followed by Rearden 'barging past' Mrs R, she having opened the door to him. The other version is from the Press Association.
Given that the prosecution brought no evidence to the trial in support of the violent entry charge (ie the bashing the door down), it is fair to assume that the version referring to the breaking down of the door is not accurate. If a door is broken then that is evidence of violent entry. Since no evidence for violent entry was produced by the prosecution, there presumably was no broken door. |

over-reacting, he didn't hit the woman just grabbed her arm, he didn't beat her up or kick her head in(unlike some other players from a team from the dark side), yes he made a mistake and is after a 2nd chance.

Haven't read the thread yet but I must say I'm very dissapointed by this signing. Again I dont know all the facts of the case but my initial reaction is that this really isn't the sort of person we want at the club is it?

Not condoning what Reardon did but a quick brief for Robbo
From the articles posted the main outline is
1, Reardon & Pryce arrived at his ex-wifes home and conned their way in (Not breaking in as reported by some but saying their son was hurt/hospital or some such thing)
2, Once door was open he barged in and grabbed ex wifes arm (which caused the bruises)
3, Pryce pushed her boyfriend over (Boyfriend had a rounders bat) and he hit his head on a pedal bin.
