Todd Carney's NRL career appears to be over after Cronulla sacked the five-eighth after a photo of him engaging in a vulgar act circulated on social media on Saturday night.
The Sharks released a statement on Sunday evening to say: "The Cronulla Sharks Football Club has today after careful consideration and lengthy deliberation, including discussions with senior NRL management, made a decision to terminate Todd Carney’s NRL playing contract effective immediately. At the Sharks we are committed to building a successful club, a club with strong values and a club which sets and respects high standards in all aspects of its operations and activities. When Todd was first signed to the Sharks he was made well aware of his responsibilities both on and off the field, to himself, the club and to the game in general, however the photograph that appeared last night on social media does not meet the values and standards the club is looking to uphold and take into the future.
I doubt your club will have similar ethics , and what a coincidence both incidents relate to clubs called The Sharks .

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| I don't go for banning people, I couldn't give a shizzle, but ffs I'd want this The Reason pillock banned solely for continuously posting the same thing over, and over, and over again.
I very rarely post over here, but here goes...
Here's a weird and strange truth.
The rugby league players that play for our respective clubs are not representatives of us as individuals.
We are not bastion's of the club's.
We do not represent those club's on a personal basis.
Those players are responsible for themselves and their own actions, they stand and fall by those no matter how much of a decent larker they are of a Sunday afternoon.
Full disclosure, I have a slightly important function happening soon that several Hull FC fans, I am ashamed to say, are members of my family will be attending.

Well said that man. I'm sick as ar**holes of Reverend Reason preaching to everybody when nobody wants to listen to him.

You did say employees can’t be sacked if incidents happen out of work . You seem to be dodging this now I have proved you wrong ....

ALBERT Kelly’s brief tenure with the Newcastle Knights officially ended today after the controversial five-eighth was sacked by the NRL club.
The former Australian Schoolboy pleading guilty on Tuesday to smashing a light at Newcastle nightspot Fannys in April and the incident is believed to have led to his sacking.
Earlier this season Kelly was discarded by Cronulla for a string of alcohol-related incidents.
Knights CEO Matt Gidley confirmed Kelly’s contract termination in a question and answer forum with supporters.
‘‘There is no doubt Albert is a talented young player who obviously had some issues off the field while living in Sydney,’’ Gidley said.
‘‘We offered Albert an opportunity to move to Newcastle to focus on his rugby league career under the guidance of Wayne Bennett.
‘‘Unfortunately, due to further disciplinary reasons, Albert has recently had his NSW Cup contract suspended, then terminated.
‘‘We wish Albert the best of luck in fulfilling his rugby league potential in the near future and thank him for his efforts whilst at our Club.’’
Kelly was sacked by the Knights two weeks ago before it is understood coach Wayne Bennett over-ruled the decision and he has since been suspended.
The Knights signed the 21-year-old to a second-tier contract to play in their reserve side in the NSW Cup after Kelly arrived in town to play in the Newcastle Rugby League with Central Newcastle.
Central coach Paul Davis is Kelly’s uncle.
Last Sunday Kelly tore in hamstring playing for the Butcher Boys against Western Suburbs and is expected to be sidelined for at least the next month.

| Let’s cut to the chase The Reason isn’t interested in ethics or morality. He simply wants Hull FC to sack Kelly, and not because he dislikes Kelly (although I’m sure he doesn’t) but because he hates FC. He wants our club to be weakened by this, as he knows that Kelly is a top class player (he knows this from when he cheered him on playing in R&W). He knows that if Kelly no longer plays for us then we’ll be weaker for it and conversely they’ll be a little bit closer to us in standard.
