Both, either, any
These type of groups in general. Good idea and in theory but it's following it through.

| FCVoices is not and has never been a bloody fans action group.
It was set up as laison group between the fans and the club, it has had some success in its endevours. I had the honour of serving with them for some time until I blotched my copy book with the club.
The club will not agree to any fans forum half way through this season, why should it expose itself to the wrath of a few hundred fans. Such a forum would achieve what exactly ?
1) Provide those across the river with a good evenings entertainment
2) Open up wounds within the club that could take years to heal.
3) Finally drive the directors into excepting they should leave.
HISA will be needed fairly soon IMHO as this crisis deepens and the club officials take to the air shelters deep under the KC. Kosh spoke of a seige mentality developing within the club, I think they have been in one for years. They fall out with the media and hide behind KCFM, where they are allowed to control output in exchange for exclusives. They are collectively unsure of what too do next, like rabbits caught in the headlights. They have used the same hackneyed phrases over and over again "cliche bingo" has been re born. This lot could come crashing down if people do not stand back a little and consider that they are a group of people who did after all save the club. They are also the same group of people who lead us too a Cardiff victory, a wembley appearance and a grand final. Common ground has to be sort and the club has too come from behind its self built isolation. Pressure groups can be vehicles for change, thats change not destruction and too many people seem to want destruction , destruction destruction.
I keep telling everyone careful what you wish for you may just get it

Excellent post Ian, we have all seen what destruction nearly did to this club once before.
And yes FC Voices have made some good decisions but it was only ever set up as a sounding board for the club under their control, where certain members used what influence they could for what they wanted to happen.
Must be about time for re-elections isn't it? Or have they already done that?

| I'd be willing to help out if HISA re-formed but as I have no experience of running such an organisation it would probably need a good half a dozen or so experienced people to keep it focused and representative of the fans.

Well said Ian. I'm all for having a fans group (and i'd participate) but we need to have some perspective on things and have some common agreement on what we want to see happen. If it's "the board sacked" then there is no point in having the said group. If it's along the lines of opening channels of commincation between fans (or fans representitives) and the club to change things for the better then great.
Some, if not all, of the major sporting clubs (football) have fans groups and they work in tandem with the clubs on certain issues, and when needed, challenge the clubs on issues that need such action.

Excellant Post and well said Karen too,
I know I have come late into this discussion , but what is needed is a strong HISA that has credibility and is accepoted by the club.
If there were say 4000 paying members then the club would have to listen.
FC Voices is a communications group that has had some success over the years but it has no madate from its members because it does not have any!
Take for example the Friday night debate. FC Voices could not take sides because half the fans wanted Fridays and half wanted Sundays so there was no clear mandate from the supporters. If however there was a memebership then they could be balleted and those that lost the vote would have to succome to the will of the majority, and get behind the proposal put to the club.
The Brother is spot on here. Who is willing to get the organisation up and running. The time some folks spend on here mischief making, grumbling and slagging everyone in sight off, could be easily enough time to run an Independant Supporters Organisation. So come on we have heard all the arguements and theories behind our current demise now who is going to do something positive about it!!

But would they listen to them direct and have a direct link to the club, or would they have to speak to the club via FC voices and then if that was the case, would the awkward questions get right through that channel of communication.

that will always be a problem, i know from past experience.

i know he has put 4000, but i think that is way too unrealisitic.
Avg fan base of 10k, i would think between 1 & 2k is more realistic.
the problem being is people will ask for such organisation, but its getting them to join that is the problem, some will begrudge paying a pound or whatever, others will just say its not worth it theyll do nothing for me. Even if its free it will be a struglle to build up the numbers

| Excellant Points from Karl it is a thankless task as he so well knows. I think that if we are in such a bad state and so many folks are upset, (as we would be led to believe on here) then 4000 is not an unacceptable target. The trouble is folks like to sit behind their computers and complain and yet will not spend that time giving something back, or putting their money where their mouths are.
Any New HIsA arganisation could use all the constitution etc that the current one has, but I know what Karls problems are and I am sure he would agree that it probably needs some new and probably high profile staff at the top and a big membership drive to get the size of mandate it will need.
My point is that if things are as bad as they were back in the late 1990's folks will be clambering to join, if not then it will be harder, but those who think we need the organisation must weigh their own thoughts against the thoughts of the general support and decide if there is enough feeling to make it a goer!!
If they feel there is they should get hold of Hutchie discuss the current situation and a way of remobilising the Group!

How time consuming a job is it? Would it be easier if more people were involved in terms of running it?
