Why do they? I am not saying we will but what are you basing this theory of yours on?

I know the club are not thinking this way and are still trying to do the right deal for the club so how do you know better?

Paul, it`s just my own opinion, i know we have made enquiries for Chase and Sammut but it was always going to be difficult this close to the start of the season to prize them away from their club unless we paid a rediculous transfer fees it looks to me that neither of these deals are going to happen, i am not sure if there are any other options out there and i wouldn`t want us to sign someone now just for the sake of it, i would much rather wait and see if some quality becomes available through the season.

So we all need to accept a theory that is based on your opinion? I'm still hopefully we may sign before the season is here.

i think my original wording was maybe a tad confusing, however everybody is entitled to their own opinion, in this instance i may be totally wrong, only time will tell.

I agree with your sentiments that we shouldn't just be throwing money at anybody, but I don't think we will. The club are searching for a quality addition and I'm confident they will do so, whether sooner or later in the season. We'll see!

I agree with though, with a fit squad as it is at the moment, we aren't in a great rush to sign a half, if one became available then great, but our board seem to do things on the quiet and quite professionally.

Like I've mentioned earlier, we are ridiculously short in many positions. I'd be disappointed in just the one signing before the season starts, let alone none.

The recruitment this year has been just dire. Trust Hull to strengthen in the one position were strongest in (back row) and leave pretty much everything else!

I think Agar's plan for this year is going to try and emulate Wigan,Leeds and Saints and fill the gaps with youngsters as they seem to do with a lot of success.

Well there's still a lot of gaps left that need filling!
It's all good bringing kids in, but Wigan and Saints don't bring kids in and chuck 'em in the deep end do they? They drip them into the team when they need to and eventually stick with them. We throw them in because we have to and then boot them out when they've finally lost all confidence through a stumped development!

The only thing I'm confident in for next year is the depth and quality of the back row. The rest have little/no back-up, and rely on moving players around to accommodate injuries, which (as we've seen continuously over the years) unsettled the team.

Last year at one point I think we had about 8 injuries at once. This year, I think even four injuries could cripple the team. If Tansey, Whiting, Long and Horne aren't available for a game at some point (quite a likely scenario really), we have no full back, no half backs to cover. Turner can't play everywhere! And if we have to move Washbrook then we have no backup hooker. Houghton will need spelling from time to time.

maybe we won't have such bad luck again regarding injuries, anything can happen. apparently washbrook did OK against doncaster so for the small amount of time that he will cover for houghton it shouldn't be an issue

Good points, Agar has been harping on about needing half back cover been the priority yet we have failed to bring anyone in. He will live and die by that failure imo, another season of injuries to key players and a mid table finish and Agar will be (and should be) history.
