And some still want a 'pivot full back' lol'"
Very weak kick returns and hardly made a break, decent solid fullback but not league of Prescott and Gay.

| Prescott was a quality player and I couldn't believe it when he was offered as part of the deal which saw Hunte sign for you guys.
As for Richard Gay, only really watched him in the derby games of the 90's, with my memory being so bad it would be unfair to comment, just dont remember him standing out that much really.

Richard gay was excellent, apart from the Brian Smith era played mainly in a poor Hull team, all round better than Prescott IMO.
Would be England FB now, at the time he had Davis and Radlinski in his way to play for GB.

Too right! Richard Gay was a great fullback for us. Great all round game. For me, not quite the same class as Prescott, but I'd dearly love either now. Post glory days we've had Gay, Fitz, Holmes, Prescott and Barnett who was all better than anything we've had since!

Prescott played in a much more attacking and better team, Gay one on one defence was amazing cant remember him missing many tackles at all.
Great FB's shame neither got to play in SL as I think they would have done well, shoudl ahve kept Holmes when we got into SL, could have played Centre or Wing, would have been better than the s**t we had there (Seru and Hallas to name 2).

Fitz? Is that Fitzgerald who played in the lower leagues for us? Went to York?

That is correct. And both played very well for us and ALL the Hull fans at the time agreed. Vaikona was also awesome in the centres for us in the lower division. Or is his talent also questionable for having played in a lower division?

what tv did was freakish in that league, he also went to play for the best sl side of the era, Fitzgerald went to York.

So what? Paul Sterling went to Hunslet after us but went on to play for Leeds. Fitz could have advanced beyond York if it wasn't for a career ending injury.

but he didn't! Just because played fb in a certain way doesn't mean he could have handled the step up.
If tansey was playing nl1 he'd be the star performer, fitz wasn't.
Tbh I find the fact fans can't get behind the players quite annoying clubs have to make decissions with recruitment and retention some they get right some wrong.
many sides now play with a more prop like 13 and a more half back 1, like everybodys favorite smith.

Your assertion that Tansey would be the star performer in NL1 is based on nothing. The fullbacks I mentioned all played exceptionally well for Hull FC on a consistent basis.
I find that fact that some people can blind themselves to a players shortcomings really annoying, some coaches get team selections right and some get it wrong. It's not up to the paying customer to swallow their opinion when they've spotted an obvious weakness.
That many teams play with a prop at 13 is irrelevant. The vast majority of SL sides have a fullback that sprints to take the ball on the full, and evades the first tackler on return. The vast majority of these are fullbacks, not halfbacks.
You're mistaken if you think I don't rate Tansey. At Leeds, Tansey struggled with Fullback, Centre and Halfback but seemed to excel at hooker. I've enjoyed watching him at hooker on many occasion, but enjoy watching him at fullback as much as I enjoyed Motu there, or would enjoy Houghton there.
