No, Whiting should be the 13th name on the team sheet every week. He can play pretty much anywhere, and play there well. Pick our strongest squad and drop the weakest player for Whiting. Makes perfect sense. He's not exactly got a best position, he can play all of them well!
Before, Whiting was like one of them "if there's a space, we'll put you in" kind of player.
Now, people make way for him. He can't be left out the starting line-up now IMO. Even if he hasn't got a best position. Number 14 shirt should be his every year.

I'm a particular fan of "Whiting is nowhere near as good as Washbrook".

Yes I remember that. Fact is he has been a revelation. Grabbed his chance in the friendlies and has been consistently good ever since. He has a great rugby brain and safe hands. If only he had some pace to go withhis other skills.

Think if he had pace it would hinder his game strangely enough
Does anyone else think everytime that whiting gets the ball under pressure like when fielding a kick from the oppo the game seems to slow down and give us the settling moment the team need to regroup? Too many times you see players field a kick or take a loose ball from the oppo and they are hell bent on trying the impossible by having a brain surge or trying to play at 100mph and end up losing possession themselves and putting their team under pressure. Hes a smart player and the team know it.

| IMO best rugby brain at the club which makes up for his yard of pace that he has missing, always a safe bet that whiting will make an intercept at somepoint just a shame that you know he will get caught but as someone else has mentioned you would hope a bit of support would help him out.
Quality player and would be disappointed if he wasn't signed up.

| Rich Whiting had an awesome game, it was if he had a homing device on the ball, his reading of the game is second to none. Sign him up NOW!

| getting better as he gets older.he has a fantastic rugby brain, and his lack of pace is offset by this.people talk about the likes of long and fitz with all their experience, but rich reads the game very well, and very rarely takes any risks, which is a plus in our team with some of our mistakes we have made(salford)but today has been a day to remember, and whiting was fantastic,so long may it continue

| if he had a couple of yards more pace would be world class in what ever position he wanted dont see him as a second rower tho. positional play and reading of the game is first class hope they do the decent thing and sign him up soon

| The most intelligent player in the team for reading the game. Would be World Class if he had some speed perhaps need to send him to Jamaica for some sprint training or employ Dwain Chambers to give him some legitimate added extra.

| Not sure you can coach pace to an RL player but if he lacks that he more than makes up for it in effort and versatility.
