He'll go with my best wishes wherever he ends up. I just hope he hasn't painted himself into a corner and ends up at Salford. Would be a complete waste of talent. No wonder his form has dipped of late

Quote: Rupert Pupkin "They may be one of the clubs in for Soward, your former number 1 target.'"

The Club never stated that he was a number 1 target They went after Prince and JM now the Club is waiting for JM to come .Soward may have been the choice of some posters

I was told before it was announced that Richard was leaving that he was going back to oz and Briscoe was going there to replace him. Seems likely to me as I can't see anyone else at wigan stepping up to take Richard's place

They've got loads of kids coming through, I would be surprised if he signed for Wigan tbh, could see him at Warrington though.

I think he'd go really well if he switched to Union, he's got a really big work rate and likes running at big, tired forwards which there are plenty of, he's good at kicks straight at him, its crossfields where he has a problem and its much easier to hide in defence in Union than league, though I don't think he'd have a problem. If he develops a kicking game I think he'd be a real success.

You mean like

Jason Robinson
Wendell Sailor
Lote Tiquiri
Chris Ashton

Or are you simply basing this on Gareth Raynor?

And Kyle Eastmond and Joel Tomkins. Eastmond is in the England team and Tomkins for the Saxons.

For every Jason Robinson & Chris Ashton, there's a Raynor & Lee Smith.

Briscoe's inability to catch or kick won't see him do any good in union.

Do you actually believe what you write?

Check out the Briscoe vid on YT. Plenty of examples of him catching the ball there.

As for kicking, I'd be worried if we had seen any evidence of this being a winger in RL. That being said, his kick at Warrington wasn't too shabby icon_wink.gif

So you're telling me that based on his kick at Warrington and even the one a few weeks earlier inside to Yeaman, he's going to be a good enough territorial kicker to play the wing in Union? You don't know what you're talking about pal.

Do you actually read what you have put in the first place before putting our foot in your mouth.

You claimed he "cannot catch or kick"

You are wrong

I am not basing anything on just one kick. It appears you are the one making the sweeping assuptions.

And as I clearly put, it would be a worry if we had seen a winger in and RL game showing off his long kicking game, the team would be in disarray.

So, what evidence do you actually have to suggest he can neither kick or catch the ball?

Maybe you could link to some of these 'vile' comments? Only I seem to have missed them.'"

Don't you read too well, the hounding of Tom's so called decision to leave, being told he can Fcuk off, drop him, no loyalty, he's not putting in any effort, good riddance, get rid if he doesn't want to re-sign, he's just after the cash. Comments in pretty much those words just off the top of my head, not just on this thread but others too since it was inferred he was leaving.

And to the other poster, no it isn't an over-reaction. What is over reacting is some posters who think it fair to lambast TB for leaving and having the temerity (if indeed he does) to go to Leeds and that he isn't showing any loyalty.
That's the gash, over reacting comments that are totally out of order.

Ok, I'll spell it out for you. Every now and again Tom drops the ball cold, he can catch, but not consitently. He'll have to do it a lot more often in union too. He also struggles to dominate in the air when put under pressure, often the ball gets dropped and fumbled out dead in goal when kicked to his corner. This simply won't be tolerated in union.
His kicking is a non-starter, if he had the ability to kick, he'd be utilised, we've hardly been blessed in this department over the last few years. Even Craig Hall was utilised occasionally, because he can kick.
I've also seen no evidence of any ball handling skills.
The guys that make it in the back three in union, from league are players who have a more rounded game than Briscoe does. Ashton & Robinson were both equally adept at FB and Eastmond was a halfback that played FB too. There was a good article by Ashton's brother (can't remember where now) talking about the skills needed to play wing/FB in union.
IMO based on what I've seen of Briscoe, he doesn't have the necessary skills to be a success in Union, but I'm damn sure he could get a contract somewhere based solely on his league reputation.
