| Hmmm............
I am prepared to give Rich backing and I do think we have to be behind the squad including the manager from day one.
I reserve the right however...............
To be wary due to past coaching cock ups that lie squarely on his shoulders, his curious subs policy at times has left me and others totally baffled. The subbing of Thorman AFTER the break at Cas ranks as one of the worst decisions I have seen from any coach, clearly Thorman should have gone at least at halftime.
I could go on, but for now he has my support and I hope and pray that we are not here seven weeks for now wringing our hands.

Yup, it's unfortunate we have so many apologists for Agar's previous form at being inept, but I guess we have to live with it.
I think Moore and Long, with Fitz, will be making a lot of the decisions, Agar really wont be that important this season.

can hear them now, when we get to the grand final (tongue firmly in cheek)
"it was long and fitzgibbon who got us there"
similar to the last time when the same people said "it was agar who got us there"

| Thats the trouble we have.
If we have a good season is it because of Agar or inspite of him ?
I do think people should be allowed to have opinions either way, indeed thats what the purpose of this forum is, one I always fought to keep independant of outside influence and one where everyone is respected for their views.

Nothing wrong with both sides of the debate - it's healthy and what boards like this are all about. Where it breaks down is when people decide to call each other names like school kids do. As regards Agar's position it's been done to death. He will live and die by his decisions. One thing is for certain if Hull are successful and those who have called for his head try to claim that failure was down to him but the success is nowt to do with him then that will be the definition of disingenuous by those who peddle it.

No one will actually care why if we do.
Hopefully he'll be asked to be England's coach if we do well this season

Wolfie, it is possible to be supportive of Agar and still question him and his decisions. He has my full backing and has assembled a good squad but like I have always told you he now has to produce, no excuses.
You say Whiting, Dowes and Radford deserved to be picked on form. Yet when someone said the same about Moa over Yak you said he can't please everyone. That's why people see it as him having favourites, I honestly can't se Moa playing ahead of Radford, Dowes and Yak unless they are injured so all this Tongan Mafia crap is exactly that imo.
Also we have not learnt from last season and have again picked a battering ram at 13 and leave a fantastic young player kicking his heels out of the 17 in Washbrook.
If he gets the result on Saturday or at least a good performance then great and either way we have to give him time but it's just a little worrying for me that he might not have the balls to make the tough decisions. I hope i'm wrong.

The thing is Paul, which do you pick when all have played well in pre-season? I must say, I am surprised at him playing Yak who I think has looked to be struggling in the matches (although I don't know about training) - and I would have liked to see two impact props - but Agar is also taking a lot of advice here from Longy about how to beat Saints. With regard to the battering ram approach to 13, you know as well as I do that this is common practice in both hemispheres. So whilst I'm like you and like to see a ball-playing 13 (which he might still pick from the players he has named) the idea of picking a "prop" at 13 is a perfectly defensible one.
