Too many of our fans did not see Kingy back in his youth ripping defences apart and giving us hope for the future.
Kingy will join the elite group of greats simply because he was Kingy, a fans favourite. A human being who wore his heart on his sleeve and never wanted to leave his only PRO club, perhaps this is not quite the end of the Paul King show quite yet

Top post Ian. Always enjoyed watching Kingy through the years, always gave his all for the club and wears his heart on his sleeve. He has let himself down from time to time but in the main has been a great servant to the club. Sad to see him go and I wish him all the best for the future. |

I can remember back in around 1998 when King broke his wrist whilst playing in the reserves. For several weeks after he turned up on matchday, got the pot cut off, strapped up the wrist and played the match before a trip back to casualty to get it re-potted.
Whatever peoples thoughts on King, you certainly can never question his toughness or mis-guided pleasure in playing for your club.
He will end up retiring without fulfilling his potential but he has still had a career that all of us who post on here could only dream of.

I haven't ed my career away in the pub, hence why I am still getting a premium wage at 35, not on the scrap heap early! |

I meant Rugby career. I am not disputing that it is his fault that he has not fulfilled his potential. That is why people are so frustrated with him. |

Fair point.
I actually feel sorry for the guy, could have done so much more, I'd hate to imagine spending 40 years with the regrets Paul will have, assuming he clears his debts in time to enjoy any retirement. |
