| Quote: Chris71 "Blimey O’Reilly how did we manage to come away with that other than thanks to Cootes pretty poor kicking and a dubious call by the VR (though technically could be considered a knock on as lost control and seemed to hit Longstaffs hand.
Thought Walker and Longstaff were great today and Simm showed up well along with Laidlaw who didn’t look out of place at all.
Defence very ropey but to be fair was going to be iffy with so many debutants and such a short time to prep with them. That’s said still come up with basic and unforced errors and were our own worst enemy.
Still I’ll take the win and hopefully much improvement next week but need to stop gifting opposition a way back into games.'"
I echo your comments Chris ..
Thought from the get go, our mindset was not good, I felt KR were mentally better than us. this was highlighted by poor defensive effort, especially on our tryline..
The exuberance from the new blokes just got us over the line.
Apart from Satae & Gale, the rest of the experienced first teamers were average at best. Houghton's dummy half work was below average, Peats is streets ahead of him.
Griffin's scruffy play the ball ,yet again .. and poor defense, Taylor's stamina.. etc etc
Walker & Simms I'd look to add them permanently, they look very pacey, & good ball in hand as well.
A much needed victory, but.. question marks still remain.. IMO..

| I thought Tag had his best game for a long long time, he’s still nowhere near his best, but if he can knuckle down and get his fitness levels better, this game could act as his renaissance, and contrary to the majority opinion, I thought Danny was still going strong at the end.

I'd be amazed if he wasn't here next season

| Hopefully another weeks training with Longstaff/Griffin/Simm will help shore up that edge.
Understandable at times, but it was all over the place against Rovers.
We've got a free hit against Wigan on Friday for me. Bigger game is against Cas.

110 metres for Tag yesterday, most by a forward apart from Satae obviously (140).

We could just use Tag in Derbys of course, presuming we have one next year.

Can't see us Keeping Marcus Walker tbh. i think the fact he's not been in the squad and loan players have been brought in speaks volumes.
wouldn't be disappointed to see Griffin move on too. Thought he was poor again yesterday and i'd bring put Simm left centre on friday and Mitch on the wing.

Maybe I was too harsh on him!
Him having his back turned when Brown stole the ball nearly killed me though.....

I’m glad I don’t have to make these decisions RNR, it can be a ruthless business now, Griff gets a terrible injury, fights his way back, yet just doesn’t reach the standards which brought him possible GB selection, and consequently due to our club finally realising youth and quality youth is the future (someone else said this, Bob was his name) Griffs days as a centre may be over.

Exactly.
Both Taylor and Houghton had good games and their best for a while.
Not up to their standards of a few seasons ago perhaps but a big improvement on recent efforts?

Mitch and possibly Ben McNamara. Any news on Ma'u?
We'll probably lose Fash for a game or two.

Well you can debate it all you like on here but in the end in a Derby there is only one thing that matters Coaches players and fans from both sides of the City know that and anyone who disagree's is quite frankly kidding themselves. That was a great battle from everyone and for Hull Fc an exceptional win against the odds. Neither club will trouble the top 4 but whether it's either sides 'Cup Final' (as both sets of supporters will claim) everyone going into work today, to the pub later on or to visit the family knows just how important a win is. For me it will go with several Derbys I have seen over the last 64 years ( like that epic win at Caravan Park in April 1988 when we carried Tony Dean shoulder high round the pitch at the end) which have seen massive Derby victories first and foremost over adversity. Our backs as a club were really against the wall before this one and credit to the owner and the coach for bringing in the loan boys. that was a master stroke. however, whether some of the older players play when they want to is a debate for another day, but for now just enjoy it. Great too to see Dan Tomlinsons review of the game here. At last a bit of passion about the reporting!!
