What Starbucks did was technically within the letter of the (tax) laws but Joe public saw it as being unethical and pressure of the public forced a change. Whilst it may be within the law for SMC to charge for hanging photos this does not make it right. Likewise the public can force a change of mind.
With City no doubt running at a loss then it would make sense to transfer those losses onto an associated business to reduce taxation / council dividends and possibly have those losses covered in part by another unconnected party - raising whatever charges are possible be it season ticket handling to hanging photos. A number of staff costs and overheads could be “reappraised” to achieve this. So what if city are paying for the privilege of hanging their photo’s up – the payments being made will only be covering losses which in all likelihood originated from their football operations. The SMC’s financial performance over the past 2 years v the first 8 years does seem to suggest this.
Notwithstanding the numerous accounting avenues that could be at play here the underlying issue is the disrespect to a local sporting icon. Everyone has seen the creeping takeover of the stadium and the tiger adorned reception for some time but the emotional fight is about justice and respect for Johnny. I never saw him play, much too young , but there is a degree of aura about the man that cannot be ignored and from his glittering playing career to ambassadorial role for the city and sport. It should be the SMC paying JW for the privilege to be associated with the great man not the other way round!
When the Allams first bought Hull City an elderly man muttered one word to me – “Ruscadors”.

This whole thing is obviously some kind of petty issue between Allam and Pearson but it seems atm that Pearson has more than met his match.
With the clout Allam has compared to Pearson, it looks a bit like he could be turning up to a gunfight holding a stick.

In a sugar coated ideal world you would be Mr Allams Chief Negotiator. You should at least give it serious thought.... and just give him a bell.

I guess your right but the possibility of losing around 1-2k every 2 weeks would mean the balance sheets would need "Adjusting" even more, then if there was ever a audit it would bite him on his tutankhamun.

wow, it's been a hectic 12 hours, a few comments.

ENORMOUS thanks to the HDM for what they're running today, they still want the "20 Questions about the SMC", I'll start a thread and see if we can get it stickied.

A now, a request, WE MUST NOT LET THIS DIE DOWN, it's easy to get all shouty at the start of something like this, but it often fizzles out, and that is what the Allams are counting on. I don't expect FC to comment as it's comercially sensitive for them and we don't know what other clauses are in the lease agreement about speaking up on such things, but I imagine what we're doing is being watched and appreciated.

KEEP UP THE PRESSURE, KEEP SENDING EMAILS, if you haven't done anything yet then please, PLEASE send even the briefest of emails to the Council, they need to understand the depth and spread of feeling. Most DECENT City and KR supporters are behind us, especially about the stupidity of having a suite named after a guy but with no images of him.

myuncleharry (or whatever your new username is) you seem to have no appreciation for the history of sport in Hull, Barmby and Windass achieved NOTHING compared to Johnny Whitely, Barmby is, I agree, a great guy and a great ambassador for the City, Windass, just a bloke who kicked a bag of wind. Maybe you should read the citation on the Jack Harrison memorial next time you go to fellate the Allams, sorry, I meant "support Hull City", just in case Mr Allam decides that has to go, then you can tell us all how you "have no idea who this whathis name Harrison guy is".

You say AP has taken a stick to a gunfight. I say Allam is involving himself in a childish playground argument. Hopefully when teacher calls him back in for class, Allam will start behaving.

SMC should never have been run by an interested party.

Will the council have the guts to remove Alllam and SMC as the management company, what are people's views on how close actions like these strain the brief of the SMC to the limit and therefore allow the council to act.

Could the council use this situation to show they are no longer willing to be undermined by a man who's sole aim is personal gain at any cost.
