Quote Milky121086="Milky121086"Just catching up after a few days off the forum and wow the negativity still rife eh? We aint even in Grand final month of this current season and yet fans are being negative about who weve SO FAR brought in for next year...
I look at it this way...
Ins
Tindall - Rapid speed, raw yes but young, hungry and eye for the try line
Ashworth - Aggressive decent step and speed for a front row/2nd row (upgrade on Lane or Evans)
Walker - KR Form speaks for itself, good lad with still bags of potential left
Pele - Monster of a runner, pacey prop and an ample Satae replacement one would assume
Ese'Ese - Experienced genuine NRL quality forward who has a really reputation there
Smith - Good cover for halves and hooking position and upgrade on Ben Mac and Dwyer IMO
Sailor (TBA) - Raw speed, flair, class step, good kicking game and very Kelly esque
Outs
Savelio - Injury prone, questionable defense more often than not over past seasons
Swift - Cant really argue with this one as hes irreplaceable IMO
Clifford - Cant question his quality but hasn't been same since announcement was made
Satae - Monster, fans fave but not consistent enough and another with defensive frailties
Shaul - Past it
Taylor - Past his best but would have liked to see him have one more go round
Evans - Less said the better
Griffin - Let us down in a key moment and was lucky to not have seen red in prior round vs Cas
Dwyer - Too many brain explosion plays and not consistent enough
Wynne - Decent young player but better coming through academy
Mitch (TBA) - Never really ripped it up, reliable but again there's enough in academy to cover him
I may have missed one or two but main point when you look at it is our pack will be bigger, younger, more aggressive, more mobile, our backs will have pace and halves will be off the cuff exciting brand to watch, more suited to TS style of play we have all waxed lyrical about at his previous clubs, hes done well IMO to get us anywhere near a play off push with the start we had and the players he has inherited, gotta let him build his own team, hes already turned the attitude and general culture on its head so give him the chance to change the style of play for the better, The guy is a serial winner! He will get this club where they need to be 100% Stay faithful!!'"
All pretty well summed up Milky, but Sailor is uncertain, as he is yet to be announced, but if you are sure about him signing, for me he does have the potential to be onr of those left field signings , that really set the league on fire. Every time I have seen him, he's looke a very good player and the fact that , that game time was at top level, in the NRL, speaks for itself.
I am very happy with every signing, Tindall will be fine, he looks like a very accomplished player, Leeds' loss and our gain, a la Gareth Raynor, Gareth Carvell & Ewan Dowes, so I do think we have upgraded, in certain areas and Pele is the one that excites me most; he can explode into a game and has real place, for a 20 plus stone prop. All that said and trying to be realistic here, Okunbor is the one I am not impressed with, and although people should be given a fair chance, whenever I have seen him play, he looks just like a squad filler, with no real stand out quality, except his aerial ability , and I don't mean selling dodgy firesticks like the one I use. He isn't a backrower, in reality, but we'll see and hope he proves me wrong, he has the size and a real turn of pace, but the lack of craft, at half back, concerns me. Walker is all class, but up-to now, made of biscuit, he deserves some luck and can be a very good fullback. Morgan Smith may be a good stand in, but we want to be in the mix from the get go, not playing catch up again, although the jeopardy of making the playoffs and catching Rovers, for a brief time, did add to the excitement this year, until we fell off, again.
