As I mentioned yesterday,we are in the states visiting our son and was concerned about the high winds.verbalkint on this site eased our concerns but then of course came the flooding.as we have family living on the foreshore at Hessle we became very worried as we could not contact them.We found out this morning that they all were evacuated last night and both of their houses we're flooded.We have had more info off this site than we could get from the media,so thanks everyone for the updates it's more than a rugby site.
Incidentally we are snowed in over here and freezing rain forecast.

Can't believe people on Facebook putting things like 'are the shops in Town open?' I can't believe that anyone needs food or more likely Xmas presents this badly! Most things will be back to normal in a day or 2.

Well last night on the river was pretty uneventful, sat on the boat in Grimsby Dock all night as pilotage was suspended.

This is what's left of spurn road, the road has been gone a few months now but this is certainly the worst it's ever been. You can see the water pipe exposed and power cables have gone.

geologically speaking spurn is due to breach permanently soon, only the island at the end will be left and eventually all will be washed away, then a new spit will form slightly west of the current one. there have been several spurns over time. the narrows breach every year now and the road is washed away most years. this permanent breach won't be too far away
