I wrote this season off ages ago.

Because we've looked capable of going all the way to O/T?
Maybe he's sending out a message to any player who doesn't want to put enough effort in. Maybe o'carroll has something else lined up

| Maybe o'carroll had some appearance related clauses in his contract given his previous problems?

| Well it's just strange isn't it, there is no need to jump on the defensive.
A team with injury problems in the front row decide to release a player who has played every time he has been available, midway through a season in which they are still competitive (if you ask PG he will tell you he still wants top 4).
Just seems like you are willing to be very understrength in one of the most important areas for a team that are still aiming to compete.

It's got to be something like that. THere must be some sort of get out for the club which they've opted to take now to avoid having to retain him for the full contract. Short term pain , long term we must have signed a couple of decent props?

Ellis has played several games, including our last one. O'Carroll has played every week he's been fit for selection. Not sure how that's not giving them chance, TBH.

O'Carroll is 25, he's been a first grade player for seven years (off and on). He's hardly an up and coming youngster. Plus he's played ten times this season and hardly stood out.
He was Agar's signing and Gentle presumably has plans to sign better than we have.

I think something must have happened here, O'Carroll seems a popular kid and surely if this was just a normal case of a player leaving they wouldn't have made a leaving speech the day before a game when he's presumably trained in the side all week?'"
Don't see the relevance whether he is popular or not. You can't keep a player just so you don't upset his teammates.

| We may need to clear the decks for another signing to come in this year. Its all in the air we want better players and Gentle wants his own team full of players that will give 100%
Good Luck to O'Carroll where ever he ends up.

| The winds of change are gathering strength. PG obviously has a plan (unlike Agar) and is being backed by AP. None of us expected to challenge this year so now is the right time to make these changes.

Me too. I don't think O'Carroll is what we need. So I am pleased we are getting rid.
Lynch, Paea, Lovegrove, Johnson and watts is a decent set of props should that be wahtvwe end up with. Plus still trying for a NRL prop.

| Exactly we can either wait and drag out the process or get on with the job in hand and sort the issues now.

Must be paea or an NRL prop. Can't see us affording both. Looks like manu's salary cap has been diverted to the front row

Possibly but with Tickle likely to go that would free up more cap and we could sign a replacement for him on much less cash.

We could but then that would leave us weaker in the back row.
