we lost againt wakefeild and crus because we never had half backs good enough. not because lack of enthusiasm hull was poor poor in attack, no clue and nop idea.

| Quote Danny Oglesby="Danny Oglesby"with the half back problems we have why do you expect to beat wakefield, crusaders, salford last year we had the same problems and finished near the bottom. untill hull bring in a quality 6 and a young 7 for when longy is out hull will be the same dribnle to watch. the game looks dull and un interesting when you dont have good half backs on the pitch comanding and controlling, whitch maybe thats what your mistaking for enthusiasm'"

Er, thanks for responding to my post twice. You were wrong both times.
I'm not 'mistaking' lack of enthusiasm for anything. I'm talking about things like line speed in defence, fighting to get a quick play the ball, committed kick chases, not strolling to scrums when you're 20-odd points down, running your weight in attack, and making tackles stick. Those are the things that you can do regardless of whether you have a halfback or not.

Even when Longy has been in the side we have looked poor in attack and clueless plenty of times as well.

| Quote Danny Oglesby="Danny Oglesby"not a case of believing pal, just plain facts you cant even see that hull have no quality halfback leadership on the pitch hense the 5 drives all the time and the scrappy games. when longy actually plays hull look a far better side just his leader ship alone and as for fitz and ogre not playing makes a massive difference. you imagine lulu and tomkins as hull partnership, do you still think we would be as poor?'"
Didn't look very good away at wigan and salford with long in the side, and a few more games where he's failed to spark. We have been poor all season with ball in hand irrespective of who has played. Our 2 best performances have been inspired by long against his old team and the only other one of note was the derby, which wasn't a great performance but was out of kilter with the other half dozen or so games either side

| Longy has always been the same just ask Saints fans. You get good games here and there but a lot of the time he just goes through the motions but one spark of brilliance makes you forget about those moments.
At Saints he got away with this due to their being other players capable of making tries etc and he always seemed to turn it on in the big must win games.
We on the other hand are pretty much reliant on Long to create everything and if he doesn;t we look dull and boring.

| Not fickle just a realist, our team are just average.
We are 5th in the table in a false position when was last time a team in top 8 with a minus score against them.
We don't bring on enough youngsters through most seem to go backwards at Hull and i don't know why but its true

| Quote CHEWIE7="CHEWIE7"I'd love to see how the likes of Man United and other clubs of THAT calibre in sport would cope with an injury list like the one we seem to be burdoned with over the last few years?
It really does baffle me how some of you can't see this. You dont seem to grasp the SIMPLE FACT that a team is weakened when its KEY PLAYERS get injured. Its not rocket science..but just for you,,,I'll simplify it.
Ready?
Here goes.......
Try to immagine a gladiator going into the arena armed with a handbag and some rude words to shout....Got that image?
OK...thats basicaly what we're dealing with. His main stabbing weapons are missing...but if he hits hard enough with his handbag (maybe inserts a brick or two) and doesnt have a sore throat...he might get lucky.
See.....its easy......No Team......slim chance......please try to let that sink in eh?
'"
Last week we had most of the same players missing, and played far far better then we did this week.
Yes we may well loose games, but last week showed me that there is now no more pathetic excuses for having poor games.

| As a Wigan fan reading this I think it's fair to point out a few things.
First you had a very good win last week against your biggest rivals whereas Wigan were beaten by the 2nd club in the league.
2nd, Wigan's coach has gone to Aus for family reasons and Shaun Wane took over. He went with a different squad selection than McGuire.MM would not have picked Feka he would have gone with three props instead.
3rd Wane would not go away from home anywhere without four props being an ex prop himself.
4th Wane knew his pack with four props would get the better of the Hull forwards. That plan came off! He then put Deacon at 6 who he knew could dominate the game with his passing and kicking game being behind a winning pack. Which came off! S Tomkins went to fb to add pace to an already fast set of backs. That worked too.
5th Wane also had players injured. Phelps, Roberts, McIlorum, O'Carroll, Bailey & Mossop.
Hull though didn't help themselves.
Hall had a nightmare.
Tansey ditto!
The pack tried hard but don't have the game plan or technique Wigan now have under McGuire.
The Hull pack was beaten and therefore your halves hadn't a prayer and were not seen. Wigan had the measure of Houghton where HKR didn't.
You need a new coach! A bit of luck with injuries.
What worries me though is that your juniors who come through don't improve.
Is Horne any better than 10 years ago?
Wheeldon has gone.
Washbrook, Yeaman, etc don't seem to improve at all.
Briscoe is the only one who is improving season on season.
I do think you need technical skills coaches for your first team and U age teams.
You also need a new BOD. This lot are clueless.
You could be one of the best in SL and challenge for everything every year if you had top class management.
At Wigan we did nothing apart from a CC win in 2002 under Dave Whelan's management in 12 years.
Ian Lenagan took over for the start of the 2008 season, made the changes needed and this year 2010 we could finish top of the league with a bit of luck.
It doesn't take long to turn things around when you have good management.
You don't have it.
Your BOD are dreadful and it is they who need to be changed before your club can hit the heights.
You are a great club with tremendous support and a youth system with real quality youngsters. Your BOD should have a better coach and squad than you have and by some measure too.
Sorry for going on but RL needs a really strong HullFC.
