Ok, here's a fact for you, under current FIFA rules, ie. capacity, transport, facilities and CLUB FINANCE/STABILITY etc there is only one ground in this country meets the criteria.
Stadium of Light
Fact
It is also fact that Wembley needs £20 million to be spent on it to bring it up to these standards!

25852_1297892995.jpg You've stolen my washing
From out my back garden
You've tarmacked my driveway
Even though I said no
You've nicked my lead flashing
And weighed it in at the scrappy
Oh St Helen's tatters
Come rob me again:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_25852.jpg |

Club finance/stability? Sunderland's debt makes City's debt look like Rovers' debt!

But as I keep saying - one city will not get the funding and as we have a council ready to build 19,000 more seats quickly then I thinkwe have a great chance. £££££££ is in short supply and Dubai can't even tile a pool at the moment.'"
Is it? I think you'll find that the Council was happy to TALK about building more seats. Or more accurately talk about finding the funds to do so. All this knowing that they might well not even be in charge when the time came to sign the cheques.

Also IIRC the Lib Dumbs wouldn't have even build the KC in the first place had they had their way, describing it as a 'white elephant' and a 'waste of money' at the time.
What goes around comes around.

| At the end of the day, If Hull had been chosen, it would have brought regeneration to parts of this city that badly need it, however, exactly how long would that generation have lasted. Its ok building 10 quality hotels to house the masses that would converge on the city, but when the event is finished, we'd never fill them again. We'd end up having a 44000 seat stadium that neither team would ever fill (especially if City's top flight stay is a short one). I love Hull with a passion, but it simply doesnt have the population or geographical position, being a final destination, to compete with either Leeds or Sheffield when it comes to events of this size.

| As a Hull resident I'm indignant that nepotism and our unfair reputation has cost this city the massive investment injection that the WC would have brought.
As a Hull FC fan I'm delighted that no-one will be messing with our stadium. The city doesn't need a 35000 capacity stadium, Hull City - even in the Premier League - only pull in 24K, less in the cup competitions, and even our derby is only just a sellout. It would affect our SL franchise bid, too.
It made me laugh that, after trying to convince the FA that Hull doesn't deserve it's reputation of ugliness, a criminal hotbed full of uneducated obese people, the Hull Daily Mail, self-appointed champion of the World Cup bid, announced it's disgust to the FA today. It's headline, blasted all over the front page of today's issue, and on hundreds of Mail posters all over the City was:
"WE WAS ROBBED".

woah woah woah. the worst culprits are the thick sons and daughters of thick people, mainly within the city boundaries, who have very little going for them and make no attempt to improve themselves. they'd rather sit around and whinge because everything isn't given to them. maybe they should go to the land of opportunity that is london, or even leeds/ manchester etc, which are awesome because they spent a couple of hours shopping there once, and see how they get on there

| I have lived in the City all my life ..My opinion I don't think the Council have done enough to improve the City image The Bond Street area has been a mess for years .The town Centre has shops boarded up ..When the K C Stadium was built things in the area should have been pulled down or rebuilt We are a Big City with little mentality ..Yes thing have been built but we should have done all this years ago ..To be a Big City a lot of money has to be spent ..But I wouldn't live any were else But has a rate payer I still have the right to a rant
