| we're all optimistic about next season and i think we've got a good balance in agression and potential to play expansive RL. nobody wants dirty play and penalties; rather have it in favour of sean long and play expansive like we have in the past. our pack is looking pretty fearsome though so fair play award is out the question

Confrontation is a regular occurrence in a physical game like RL, if you’re not prepared to accept that challenge you might as well give up (just like our pack did for the majority of last season).'" , Agreed - and when I've watched the well known video clip site I haven't been seeing a lot of hard, but fair, hits. I'm not saying there isn't the odd bout of fisticuffs but most of it is good, aggressive technique that lets the opposition know that they have just been tackled - must put doubt in their mind for their next carry.

I agree about the aggression aspect of the game you describe. It is essential if the team is to be successful. I don't thhink our pack 'gave up' they just lost the aggression battle. I hope 2010 will see us winning it more often than not.

| We don't want to come bottom.
We don't want to come top either.
We want aggression, but we want discipline too. If we are more aggressive we are going to concede penalties and maybe collect a few yellow cards but I don't want us to turn into a team of thugs.

You know the old saying ‘Don’t go down without a fight’, well we did, frequently. They didn’t give up in terms of effort but as far as the ‘confrontation’ was concerned they gave up far too easily, and opposition teams new it. You don’t have to go to far back to players like Jason Smith and Stephen Kearney who would never have surrendered so easily. Jason Smith was no boxer (as biscuit jaw Fielden proved) but in a choice between backing down or risk getting a belting he was prepared to take the latter. With Fitz, O’Meley and Lauaki in our ranks I expect a few ‘flare ups’ at the start of next season, until opposition teams realise we are no longer push overs.

For the record Denbo lives in Barnsley so does have a fair bit of travelling for home games.

| Cheers Robbo.
What I'd like to say is im not castigating anyone for not being able to make games.
I'm just a little ticked off with the 'can't won't and that's my excuse brigade'.
Ok...Kosh...I have half the distance to games than you. I often finish work at 7pm on a friday and still make home games. Adding 1 and 1/2 hours for your extra half hour travelling tells me that a half 5 finish for you means you can do it. That's giving you an extra half hour for your added 75 miles. And yes I do know you'd have bad traffic to negotiate. What time do you work till again?
Standee.... a few junctions on what would be an undisputed busy M1 then on to the 'ghost road' that is the M18. Surely, with the directorship you obviously must hold you can make the decision to leave early (the impression you give us, not my assumption) and manage the 2 miles or so more than I have to do to get to a game. (I make mine 75miles to a game...yours is 77). You are genuinely telling me both of you that you cant make a half 5 finish on a sort of get to games basis? Cos I think you are full of pooh!
It's all about wanting it bad enough to do it.
Like Derby games...up off a 12 hour night shift for a mid-day game and back on one the same day. Same for away games.
Lastly.... Baldy...I apologise...it must seem childish to you and irritating.
I also find it irritating when certain posters mock and ridicule other posters who actually went to the game and air their points of view, then find others demeaning their intelligence and basically calling them idiots, knuckle draggers etc.... usually when they don't agree with the said insulters.
Very Lastly....gotta say...and I don't feel I'm alone on this one. Cut the fookin negative jibes Standee about the club whenever you get a chance. I appreciate you have you're point of view but, hey....some of us actually love the club but are not blind either. Getting a bit...ya know.
Awaits Cannon and Ball telling me what a retard I am who doesn't even know the facts of life..... etc....etc...etc.....

| and there was me thinking being a director meant my business stands and falls by my action/inaction, not all of us work every single day within 5 miles of our home, and as a senior manager at her place of work a 5.30 finish for my other half is a luxury she does not get, also the fact that she is based another 40 miles south of home.
Not that I, or anyone else, has to explain ourselves to anyone, we are all fans, all of our opinions on the club are equally as valid, I just find the silly little insults to be pathetic.

Exactly my point - we now have players who can win the battle - not players who will give it a go but more often than not lose it.

Indeed, which is why, whilst I don't want to win the "Fiar Play" league, I don't think we'll end up bottom.
The choice of captain is going to be interesting, personally I can see Radford being made "club captain" as he does so much off the field that we don't see, and someone else (or maybe more than one) being made actual "team captain", FWIW, I don't want to see Horne or Long get the responsibility, they need to focus on moving us around the field, it needs to be a forward.
