| Quote: Jake the Peg "I I posted this on the wrong thread
Even if we take AP as gospel when he insisted we spent the basic cap limit of £2.1 million (Sky said we were at 1. for the 2024 squad that’s still a full million pound less then Wigan who maxed out all the exemptions at 3.1 million with Wire and Catalans not far behind at supposedly at 3 million.
I’m not suggesting we spent £3 million on wages as that clearly wouldn’t be sustainable for us especially if we have a big dip in crowds next year but yeah going off the ins and outs so far you’d think we should have loads of wriggle room on the salary cap if needed.
Like you say if we don’t have space on the cap we obviously aren’t using the exemptions sensibly or getting general ‘value’ on the cap compared to other teams. I think it’s quota places and maybe how we jiggle marquee spots that are a bigger obstacle to spending rather then the salary cap, and being skint obviously doesn’t help either.

Not a chance we spent 1.8 million on players this year. He’s just a serial liar.

I'm not so sure, if the rumours are true, Sao, Trueman and Carlos were on about 500k. I also got told how much Morgan Smith was on (not sure how accurate it was) but if true it would make you cry.
I honestly think Smith and Clarke just thrower money at player, probably the reason the likes of Walker and Sutcliffe ate going.

He said £2.1 million, it was Sky who said they did the research and it was 1.8, AP wasn’t happy at that and even mentioned legal action
Either way whoever’s figures you use and even if Hull/AP admitted they wanted a season well under the cap to balance the books (quite reasonable in the circumstances) it’s still been horrendously managed when you consider London are spending 1.4 and Salford and Cas 1.7.

Completely agree, he’s either a liar or the cap was mismanaged even worse than we thought. I was told he was adamant we’d spent 2.1m which is just insane if true.

| I could be reading more into Grix' comment at the end of his interview about the overseas players arriving, he said he was unsure on their plans, but the Internationals (England v Samoa) could impact arrival dates. We haven't signed a Samoan international have we?

I admire your dedication to reading between the lines but reckon he’ll just be speaking in general that usually different players report in or report back at different times depending on international fixtures etc.

| Must have some cap left, if we could shift Sao, Walker Smith and Tindall and bring in Bateman (Wests playing alot of his salary salary), Bullock and Te Whare, we look alot better and more balanced.

| Te Whare would rip SL apart, he has lost some weight this year and looks better and quicker for it

Agree think he is exactly what we are missing and doesn't have a club for next year.

| Don't think Sao is going anywhere.
Does Bullock have a club for 2025?

Signed for Warrington, but think they would let him go as loaned him out twice, probably go to Salford if he was available

| So no JA for Cats this week.
I was hopeful he'd kick on and lose his excess timber, but he's gone the other way.
Could only complete 55 minutes last week and looked totally totally out of shape to say the least.
What's gunna happen with him do we think? Can't see how he gets in regardless in his current shape?
