The coach implies with the above statement that Howarth would come in if either Houghton or Cunningham got injured. If he were to play better than either of those two when he got his chance then I would hope he would keep his place - otherwise he would move aside again when the injured player returns.

In any case it's not a case of being 'confident' that Cunningham plays ahead of Howarth. What we need is confidence that the better performing players get selected above those performing at a lower standard.

Howarth is bang average, never a hooker in a million years. As has been said previous he is far too slow with his distribution, which is also very poor. I’m very surprised another Super League club took a punt on him.

I was referring more to Sneyd going to Cas than to us. He obviously wasn't highly regarded at that point since you were willing to let him go on loan.

You'll have shock when he plays, unbelievably slow, never ever runs from dummy, often gives interceptions away from dummy half by holding onto the ball for too long. He does occasionally put some big hit in defence, but also misses a lot of one on one tackles. I really don't rate him one little bit. Good luck, you'll need it.

In 2013 He made 135 runs from dummy half for saints. His average gain for saints that season was 3.29m.

Let’s compare that to Houghton who last year made 243 runs from dummy half with an average gain of 6.15 meters and in 2013 he made 502 runs from dummy half with an average gain of 4.4m.

I know stats don't tell the full story, but he's awful.
